Thanks friends. The problem I'm finding is that in the Tascam manual it says there is a "special feature" where if you plug in to the "mono" jack of 5/6 or 7/8, it functions as a mono effects send. But it still creates this weird stereo-esque thing where half of the signal is effected and the other ...

I need you 424 mkII experts! Let me explain.

Hi there. Help me to understand if I'm totally getting the mixing capabilities wrong with the 424 mkII. Let me tell you what I'd like to do, and thought I could do, but can't seem to do: I'd like to be able to record all of my tracks to tape, run these tracks through effects in the effects loops, an...

That I can do.

I guess I figured I'd be missing something in the signal, but that doesn't make any sense, really.

OK!

Thanks again.

UGGGGHHH I know I should just do it and not think twice! :)

EVERYTHING works in my head, without all the technical stuff.

Ok word!

Thanks,

Outputs from Duet recording on to tape?

Hi there. Continuing my "old-timey" bedroom 424 recording quest, my friend and I were discussing recording MIDI drums from Logic onto 4-track tape. I have created a MIDI drum track, and was thinking of using the two outs on my Apogee Duet and plugging those into the input of the Tascam 424. I plan o...

Thanks friends.

I will look elsewhere on the board and the internet, I just didn't know exactly how to phrase what I was saying.

So basically if I want to make it "easy" on myself, I'll just use both of my Rokit 8s and hook them up L and R, and then not pan anything?

Thanks!

Mono Mixing With One Speaker, Connections

Hi hi friends. I was wondering if anyone mixes in mono with just one speaker. I have a KRK Rokit 8, and I wanted to connect it to the outs on my TASCAM 424 mkII, but I wasn't sure if you can just DO THAT, or if there has to be some kind of summing or something. What I mean to say is... if I take a r...

I've never actually tried a SansAmp. A long time ago I almost got one for bass guitar, but then just got a better amp! Now there are the "Character" series as well, and I wonder if those are any good. I suppose I would want to try the "Liverpool" one, but I wonder if the SansAmp Classic would give m...

Guitar Direct To 4-Track Cassette... EQ/Preamp Suggest?

Hi there friends. I was just reading about the new JHS "Neve" guitar pedal the Color Box (which is a neat idea but overpriced and silly and I won't be buying one), and it got me wondering a bit about recording with my TASCAM 424 mkII. Here's a link to get an idea: http://www.jhspedals.com/products/g...

I've been playing with pedals for 20 years, looking for those same sounds. At least for "She Said, She Said", I've never been able to get closer with anything other than a cranked Vox tube amp and an Epiphone Casino. Then you just have to mess with different guitar and amp tones. You could also just...

Thanks everyone! It all makes sense now. All of you helped a lot with the technical explanation of it, and in a way that I could still understand. :) Putting it in terms of volumes being higher or lower on the two different tracks helps... you pan something, and it takes the volume down a little on ...

Help settle a bouncing/panning discussion!

Hi friends. My pal and I were chatting last night about different bouncing techniques we use, and he suggested something to me that I didn't think was possible. I don't quite have the equipment to test it out, so I'm hoping yous guys can help me solve the question. I'll try my best to explain it pro...

Thanks everyone.

Yep, I've seen quite a few of the tabletop ones, but just recently saw the vertical one on eBay and I wondered about the differences.

Glad the tabletop will be a little easier to hunt down.

Thanks again!

Otari MX5050 mkI II and III? Flat and upright?

Hi friends. I've been looking a lot at the various Otari MX5050s, and there seem to be quite a few different ones out there in various marks. Haven't been able to find a comprehensive list of differences anywhere, and I was wondering if anyone could help me out. I'm looking specifically for the 1/2"...

I'm wondering about taking this same step as well, just bypassing your second step. So I'd be going from my TASCAM 424 mkII to what would hopefully be a respectable 8 track recorder and mixer. I wouldn't be going straight from the 424 to a reel-to-reel... I've done a lot of recording on BOSS digital...
