Re: List your Bandcamp page
Manbird, my genre/time/space/canal-spanning double album is released today! Psychedelic music for normal people? Sure! Or, normal music for psychedelic people? Dunno! It's "accessible," I'm told. It's "a trip." Manbird! There's a fold-out lyric sheet/photo-collage poster included. I think we've conj...

Re: Chicken
my mind immediately went to Pee Wee Ellis... so this was completely different than I expected. but it sounds really good! Glad you dig it. The whole album is sonically/musically alllllll over the place. Kraut, punk, psych, twelve-tone, and lots of plain old pop. This track is much more Americana th...

Hi all - here's a track from my forthcoming Manbird album. Our bassist owns a music store and has a concert/recital venue in the building. We set our drummer up on the stage, and bassist Jeff got him with a pair of OH mics, plus kick and snare mics. I think drummer Tom had his Yamaha drum triggery t...

Re: Manbird - video premier
Just got back from taking moms to the doc, wartched the second one. Very Kurt Weil/beer hall - that was fun! That's from an album out last year, but it got tagged onto the premier for the new one. Fine by me! Whereas "Manbird" just sounds like me sounding like me, "Berliner Grotesk" is definitely m...

Re: Manbird - video premier
Glad you're digging it. It's Prophet 6 (with a touch of Prophet 5 at the end) for the bass. It was intended for proper, electric bass, but by the time I'd sorted it on synth, it stuck!

Manbird - video premier
Hey all - I'm very pleased with how the video turned out for the title track of my forthcoming Manbird album. Another no-budget flick, this one making Sacramento look better than I ever remember! Plus, a Prophet 5 played by a pigeon! Hope you enjoy! https://louderthanwar.com/watch-this-anton-barbeau...

Re: Trying to recreate Camel Crusher
My long, rambling reply got eaten - for the best, I don't doubt! - so short version is I've been grooving with the Klanghelm plugs... the DC1A3 and the IVG12. Camel Crusher was a pal for years, but moving on means letting go. Heavy sigh. Uh...

Re: Trying to recreate Camel Crusher
The free effects at http://klanghelm.com might do what you want. IVGI offers a lot of saturation color and MJUCjr and DC1A primarily compress but also saturate a bit. Their paid effects are affordable and even better (more options at least). This stuff looks promising, thanks! Free? I can handle th...

Re: Trying to recreate Camel Crusher
I’m a fan of Brainworx Masterdesk for this, I wouldn’t pay the “msrp” but Plugin Alliance does sales periodically, I think I paid $20 Or $30 for it. Waves L2 works too, on 2 mix buss it’s probably best to keep it at conservative - not working hard settings, IMHO. You had my hopes up with Masterdesk...

or Ozone elements is also only $29. https://www.izotope.com/en/products/ozone/features.html#comp I do have Elements... it's lovely. I use it in Studio One for mastering*, but it's way over my head. I go through the presets, grab something that makes sense to my ear, then run away! It might be too "...

Re: Trying to recreate Camel Crusher
I have no clue about Camel Crusher, but you might check out Massey Plugins L2007. it's really easy to use for kind of what you are describing, and it's priced reasonably. https://masseyplugins.com/plugins or you could get Waves L2 when it goes on sale for $29 (which is probably today or tomorrow si...

Trying to recreate Camel Crusher
HI all - I've recently (finally!) moved from Pro Tools 8 to PT2020. As PT2020 uses only AAX plug ins, a few of my older plugs, including Camel Crusher, aren't usable now. I'm not the most skilled or knowledgable bean in the beanbag, and have a pretty simple preset/set-n-forget approach to certain as...

Re: Latest Gear You've Un-Acquired....
Sold my Chameleon Labs 7802 st. opto compressor. My set-up at home is minimal enough that I wasn't able to use the compressor as a stereo mix bus comp, and the dbx160XT I picked up recently serves me very well as a vocal comp, so off - finally - went the CL7802.

Burning Burning
We recorded the basic track for this at our bassist's music store. He tracked drums, bass and piano into Studio One. I finished the rest in Pro Tools. My "political" songs are usually obtuse to the point nobody knows what I'm on about, but this was originally written during election season, 2016, fo...

Space Force
Howdy all - here's something from my forthcoming Manbird album.
"Space Force" features Bryan Poole of the Elephant 6 crew on wiggly psych guitars, plus a crew of Oxford thugs on backing vocals. Hope you enjoy!
