Kyle,
I use the danecho for recording bass, but have not used it on vocals yet. What are some sample setting you use?

Re: Building a studio in a storage space

I had the same problem trying to record in practice spaces... and when all my friends were done letting me record in their mom's livingrooms... I had to find a solution. What I did was find a place in an industrial part of town... one of those live work places. We sound proofed it... and the neighbo...

Re: Good years for cheap Squier/Fender guitars?

I had an early 90s Squire that was pretty decent... I had a 90s peavey predator that I think had a better sound though... and it was about the same price...

Thanks to the TapeOp Message Board!!

Dear Message board-- I just finished producing and mixing my band's debut album. We did it all ourselves... at a home studio... with the help of the TapeOp Message board. Honestly, without all of you who helped me through so many problems... I'd have never finished it. I just wanted to drop a note t...

Re: MXL Mics? power supply?

another dumb question...

the MXL v69 comes with a dedicated power supply. Why do I need this? Is this for the phantom power, or do the tubes in this mic need a different type of powersupply?

thanks!

Re: funk bass guitar recording... that nasty clip...

Thanks for all the advise. It really helps. I have just tried a different bass and I don't have the issue, but my other bass doesn't have active electronics. Doesn't have that sweet tone I love... I think it has to be the bass... the pickups have to be just too damn hot. I am playing a Musicman Stin...

Re: funk bass guitar recording... that nasty clip...

Yes. You can hear the spike. But, it doesn't sound any different than the normal sound of a bass player touching the string to the fret. It is just that sometime even though the fret click doesn't sound more than normal... the spike created is... and that causes the track to clip and destort.

Re: Help! High end ear fatigue problem with Mix

I have tried a lot of the suggestions that people here have mentioned. I think probably that my drums were to "live" when I recorded them... and the cymbal frequencies are what is causing the problem. Now I have to do damage control because rerecording the drums would be a pain. The ear fatigue prob...

Re: funk bass guitar recording... that nasty clip...

what compressor are you using? The envelope might not be fast enough? I have tried a couple -- I have a focusrite penta, RNC, Octopre. I have tried both the Penta and the RNC on their fastest setting respecitively. When you say "when I touch the strings" do you mean that literally or just when you'...

Hi there. I love this board. If I am posting too many questions... please send me a nasty little note telling me to shut the hell up... But, there are so many recording problems.. and I am just now getting through all of them.... Bass problem: The problem I am seeing is that I get this huge spike wh...

Re: mastering to tape?

" Tape sounds different playing back and when you're mixing to it, you can comprensate for that." Any tips on what you do compensating for the differences? What would you suggest for a machine that isn't 10 Grand? Hell... Is there something out there that is less than a grand... less than 500bucks....
