Thanks for the reply, I'm thinking I may just have to buy it and try it out, at that price if it doesn't work for this I'm sure we could find an application for it with all the other midi gear we have laying about. After reviewing the manuals again I found that each disk for the Datadisk will accept...

Backing up a DR-202's patterns and songs, Alesis Datadisk?

Hey all, my friend still uses the heck out of his three Boss DR-202's (mostly just as sequencers) but is always fighting for storage space on them to make new songs since they have only the limited internal memory. I ran across an Alesis Datadisk at the local gear shop for a bit over $20 and was won...

hey thanks, I kinda figured that was going to be the solution, I've been avoiding that since I'm on dial up and it took me two days to upload the songs anyway. time to find a friend with broadband.

thanks again,

free album help needed

Hey everyone, this isn't exactly a call for people to listen to my music, more a question of how to easily distribute it. My friend and I recently recorded an album which we released free online to coincide with a friends magazine. I have it available now on www.noiselaboratory.com but as you can se...

Re: Self Mutilation and Guitar Playing

finger wounds suck, I always went the superglue route, pretty much the same as liquid skin. It still hurts if you put too much pressure on it but it holds the wound shut and gives you a little fake callous. My worst injury to mess up guitar playing was when I blew out my shoulder when I was seventee...

Re: Teac 3340 to buy or not?

Game over. I went in today with the intent to buy. The main reason for not buying it yesterday was fear of death, my wife would kill me if I dragged another piece of gear in the house, even at that price. So this morning she gave me the OK. I went up there and poof, someone had already snatche...

Teac 3340 to buy or not?

Alright, I just left my local used gear shop and they had a Teac 3340 for $39.99. I avoided the impulse buy simple because I know nothing about reel to reels and I'm just about to spend quite a bit of money on something else. I come here for advice. I purchased a yamaha mt100 II cassette recorder ab...

Re: Search Engine Tips???????

Between the "search for keyword" and Search for author" text boxes it give you the option to search for "any terms" or "all terms". Use all terms to find every word you typed in. Granted, this only finds all terms you entered in the threads not in the posts so you'll still have to do a little legwor...

Re: Kickball

Ah kickball, every year for the homegrown music fest here in Duluth they have a battle of the Saturday bands vs. the Friday bands. Saturday always wins. I've still yet to actually play the game though I've played homegrown the past three years, something about getting up early after a night of heavy...

Re: Gillian Welch

I saw them back a few years, either '99 or 2000 in duluth with Ani Difranco and Greg Brown. They were definately the highlight of the show. It was a really odd show for me though, the four of them came out and sat on the stage and took turns singing songs that related to a word one of them would say...

Re: schematic for adapting a phone mic for recording

Issue #29 of TapeOp is what I'm seeing from other people. I also found these threads relating to the topic using the search function here, it kind of sucks but as long as you click the "search for all terms" thing you can get some good results, you still have to wade through crap to get to them thou...

Re: How do you pitch shift? I need help...

I have also had nothing but bad lagging experience with live pitch shifting, but I also only buy the cheapest crappy gear. A couple of things to look into. The band Local H was a guitar player and a drummer, the guitarist wired a seperate bass pickup under the low strings on his guitar and sent that...

Re: need some help/info on the akai MPC2000

Back in the day, when the 2000 was a new gizmo, 32 megs was a good amount of memory for a sampler... The 2000 was released in 97, and the 200XL in 1999. It's only within the last 2-3 years that samplers have gone over 64 megs. When the 2000 was released, it was very common to release sample librari...

Re: need some help/info on the akai MPC2000

Funny that you should post this, I've been playing with samplers for four years now with just my little boss sp202's and sp303's. Thinking it was finally time to upgrade, my bandmate was thinking about getting an MPC2000. I looked at it online and was shocked with how little internal memory it had e...

Re: audio photographs

ditto, I use a sony minidisc recorder as well with a homemade stereo mic. I like the sound and It's small enough to fit in a pocket. Added bonus, it only cost me $50 total.
