What if you put the outlet faceplate screw through the grounding lug? Is it grounded then?
I live in an old house that has one grounded plug (the gfi plug in the kitchen).

The reasoning behind no compression during digital tracking is to leave the most options available for mixing. Once a track is recorded w/ compression it can't be undone, and it may (repeat may) turn out later that a different compressor may help it to sit in the mix better. That being said, if you ...

Just to be sure everybody's got their everything straight, my understanding was that Quantegy's reel-to-reel tape was still producing a profit. What drug them under was the video tape market. I also thought I saw a thread about someone starting production of reel-to-reel tape again. Someone please c...

I think mr. dylan is lamenting the fact that with each musical reproduction "advancement" comes an accompaying lowering of fidelity. People here have been lamenting the fact that commercial CD format is a compromise at best, & now w/ mp3's & ipods it's gone lower still. You'd think musical reproduct...

I, at one time had 3 Octava 319. I a-b-ed them & kept the two that sounded best, and they didn't sound much alike. As for a matched stereo pair, it really depends I think. For close micing a guitar it's not so important, but say for ambient room mics, one could have awesome bass & the other could ha...

audix 35101 question (pinouts anyone?)
I've got a couple of these modules & was wondering if they have a balanced line level (not mic level) input. I got these w/ the pinouts pre-wired to a power supply & xlr ins & outs. I've been wondering about the possibility of using just the EQ during mixing. It seems the easiest way would be if the...

Are you still there kennylusk? You might be interested in this too JC. About a year & a half ago I brought an EH Wiggler. It's a tube tremelo unit, in the same box as the preamp. Two tubes sticking out of the top just like the preamp. I got it online (ebay) & when it arrived the operation was somewh...

This could be completely whacked, but, what if you took the drum overheads, copy the track, put it out of phase, and try to use that at various levels/eq/high pass/whatever to cancel out the bleed on the vocal track. I've never actually done this, but short of retracking the vocals, that's what i'd ...

The crate taxi & limo amps can be run off a cigarette lighter from a vehicle. There's another smaller one in that series, but I can't remember what it's called. Then there's pignose amps, most of which can be run off of batteries. Any amp that runs off of batteries could easily be run off of a car b...

Yea, Old Town Music, downtown SW 3rd, a block or two south of burnside. Also Trade-up Music at SE 47th & Division me thinks. There's a pawn shop in Vancouver across the river that specializes in music gear that usually has something interesting, but I can't remember their name or address, I have to ...
