Sony makes one called the "Heavy Duty CD Radio ZS-H10CP". It has line inputs, but on stereo 1/8" not RCA.

Another vote for that MXR dual limiter. Don't give up on it because one scumbag sold you a non-working unit. Definitely try the cabling suggestions joel mentioned. If you can get it working there's a lot of good stuff you can get out of it.

Do you think that Shure will hold a couple C414's in a Blumlein? absoultely. Ive been able to hold my two Oktava ML-15 ribbons up with em, and those are about 8 lbs each! It's less about weight and more about the length of the mic and how far apart the connectors on the Shure are. In Blumlein, one ...

Having trimmed down and changed/upgraded my setup many times, maybe I can offer something of value. First and foremost, there are no others factors to consider other than musical ones. It *doesn't matter* that you have better gear than people that do it for a living. That's their problem, not yours....

Has anybody thought that Mixerman might actually be a Mixerwoman?

Plywood is going to be extremely heavy if you need large sections. Much better to use something called "gatorboard" (I've sometimes seen it as two words "gator board"). Gatorboard is found at art supply shops and is extremely light yet rigid.

Re: Which tubes would you pair with these ARTs?

To save time swapping them in and out for comparison, which tubes would you pair with which compressor and preamps? ie, the mullards for the VLA? This idea of "saving time" is where you make your mistake. You have the tubes, you have the gear, open the tops and swap the tubes in and out. Anything e...

Interesting that some of you don't use the Brit mod. My Brit mod is almost permanently in the "on" position. It just creates such a great soft breaking up, it's hard to resist. I also use the stereo image link mod, but not always. It does change the sound slightly, and sometimes I prefer to have the...

I goofed on that Octane comment. I read Octane in your post but in my head I was seeing the Tampa. For eight preamps in a box with decent quality I think you are on the right track. There are a couple Presonus units that come to mind that have eight preamps and digital out. A friend of mine uses a P...

Time for some tough love AudioHog, so stop reading now if you are sensitive to helpful criticism. Here it is: Your gear list is mostly prosumer crap, largely bedroom studio stuff. That is *not* the kind of gear you go into debt over. You throw the scraps from your financial table at that kind of gea...

ahh poor rat was dead. we had some living with us over the winter, finally found where they were getting in at. This guy, well one night was stoned out of my gourd and just standing in the kitchen being stoned and got a faint wiff of the smell of death. My roommates were like "dude, your just stone...
