electro voice you mentioned the extra wire in the walkman could serve as a play/pause button. could you hand out more details as to how it works? is there a pedal to play/pause tape that one could purchase?

Gear Identification

hello people, first of all here's a photo for you: http://farm1.staticflickr.com/98/258232611_28388a2b15_o.jpg now, except for the boss dd, the rc loop station (i guess) and the walkman (which by the way does anyone have any idea what purpose it could serve on stage?), could you identify the rest of...

i'm totally new to this so please don't rely on my assumptions. i found out that my main problem was in mixing. once i used the compressor to gain up the tracks it sounded much better. i'm using a 57 and i do need to gain the mic level almost all the way up but actually i don't think a mic pre amp w...

like you i've just started recording analog so here are a few tips so i've learned so far, first, try checking the hiss is actually recorded. i know that i get that hiss as well when i'm recording but it plays back a lot more cleaner. as for the gain problem, i'm still fighting with it as well, it r...

no offense taken snarl, i know just what you mean. i guess recording an acoustic guitar is not that easy as i thought it to be before i started, but i'll keep trying until it sounds okay to me. and don't get me wrong i don't want it to sound perfect or anything... far from it. i just want the guitar...

thank you folks. i'm relieved to know that the output signal should be less, really. i will try all of the above for sure. i guess i need to dedicate some time to proper mixing. just the hi/lo pass i've been messing a bit with on reaper looks like will solve most of the unwanted low frequencies. i w...

is mic preamp neccessary?

Hello guys, so i've just started recording on tascam 244. i'm using an sm57 to record acoustic guitar (i know a condenser should be much better...) and i always have to crank the gain almost all the way up to get a decent signal. i'm pretty new to this and i always took it for granted that a recordi...
