With the MXR you could ride the mix knob or use the In/Out button if you were in an all analog workflow, however with DAW automation being what it is I would probably throw it on a send or parallel input and automate away.

Can't say with any certainty what was used on that track but it doesn't sound dissimilar to my MXR Flanger Doubler rack. The MXR has a "Manual" knob which sets the delay , which it then modulated the lfo (controlled by the "Width" and "Speed" knobs. If you set the Width to minimum you can then use t...

I had a Peavey Classic 50/50 for a number of years. It never gave me a problem and always sounded good. It had 8 el84's to make 100 watts bridged or 50 watts a side and had front panel controls for Vol, Resonance and Presence which was nice. Peavey also made the Classic 60/60 and 120/120 around that...

Yeah, maybe I should clarify things a bit. I am comping the vocals first for the best performances and am not afraid to steal words, syllables or phonemes from another take or section if that is what works. In an ideal world that would be enough, but occasionally it isn't. And with these types of vo...

Tips for pitch correcting gruff/screamed vocals?

Hey Everyone, I tend to record a lot of bands on the loud/stonerly side of things and the singers usually have quite a bit of grind to their voices if they aren't outright screaming. Try though I might, its not always totally possible to keep redoing takes until they nail both the attitude and pitch...

So I finally got around to building a pair of these using the microsprint pcbs. Unfortunately I've hit a bit of a snag: The output is very low and thin sounding. I used CV465 tubes that I bought on ebay. Supposedly they are the same as a 5840. Has anyone used these tubes in this mic? Also if there a...

A while back I found the plans for the EV Theile cabinet over on the Electrical Audio forum. Electrical thread Plans That style box is a closed back, front ported design typically used for bass cabs so I don't know if it would be ideal for pedal steel. Just guessing here, but I would think that you ...

From the lit: "The M 260 is equipped with a built-in high-pass-filter which compensates the close miking effect, when the microphone is applied very close to an instrument." I have no experience with these mics, so I don't know if that's just the way it sounds or if there is truly something wrong. I...

FYI: There is a price break when you buy the chassis, power supply and wiring harness at the same time as any preamp, so your cost for 8ch of C84 in a working chassis should be $1512, not $1760. If you were to build and sell them yourself, one thing you must figure into your costs is the likelihood ...

The JT-DB-E is still on the website. Look here: http://www.jensen-transformers.com/db.html
The original article calls for the JT-DB-E-U which is the uncased version. It is not on the website any longer but I believe they are still available if you call.

Just add up the wattage of all the amps and P.A. and add at least 10% to be on the safe side. Say, for example, 100W for two guitar amps, 300 for bass amp, another 300 for the P.A. would give you 800W ... so a 1000W geni should be enough... you'll probably find 1500 W is a pretty common size at ren...

Apart from the stuff already mentioned, one of my favorite small recording amps is a Danelectro DM-25. All the attributes that we tend to like about small old tube amps is in the DM-25 at 1/5th the price of a Fender of the same vintage.
