Re: Good companion sub for Mackie HR824's?
I bought the HR824's the day they were available for preorder, and waited 6 months for Mackie to actually make them. I can't imagine why ANYONE would want more bass from them, they have a crazy bottom end. I mixed on them exclusively for 2 years, and came to the conclusion that I hate them more than...

Re: Recording a Rhodes.......
I had a special box some guy made for me that took the 5 pin speaker out and gave me a stereo line output. IIRC, it also powered the thing. Mic'ing the speaker is only as good as the speaker (which in a 25 year old keyboard is a dubious proposition at best), try using the headphone out with a TRS sp...

Re: AKG mics
I don't think AKG has made an interesting mic in over a decade. The AKG's I do use are all old. The original 451's kick butt, even if the capsule crap out fairly easy. The original D12 is a great mic. I count the days until I find the deal of the century on a C12.

Never cared for systems like it. Also-rans, all of them. PARIS, Sadie, etc. The real question is, how the hell have you posted 244 times in less than 5 days? Do you eat?

Re: trying to buy a mic pre and i need to know what is up.
All the preamps you listed ARE great. Of all my pres, my Chandler LTD-1s whoop ass for almost everything almost all the time. I have API, the real Avalon, ff Red Range, and some other funky stuff. The Chandlers will not disappoint anyone. EVER. You can also turn on the top EQ band and boost 3 db at ...

Re: Stereo Buss Compression
I'm using the SSL FX384 compressor on my final mix and loving it. I occasionally buss all the drums and drums FX to a stereo bus in protools and use the focusrite compressor before dumping them in the main mix bus.

Re: Mapex Drums experience?
My studio had a Mars Pro Maple Mapex kit back in the late 90's that sounded GREAT. I later used it on the road with a country band, and loved playing it. It was really cheap brand new, too. Excellent value for the money. For anything other than jazz, I'm really loving my older Pacific LX kit (last y...

Any PTHD Pluggo Users out there?
Is this $200 pile'o'plugs worth a darn? Any specific plugs that you like from this collection? I'm awfully curious, but not willing to pony up the cash until I hear more about them from a user's experience.

WOHOO! Flashy new TapeOp board.
I love it.....feels more like analog than any other digital board I've used. I almost busted out the Vinyl LP's and reached for the TAB cola.
