Re: Please critique this mix. . .

Great voice there!! Now...... 1) The vocal track needs to be pushed out in front a bit in spots and needs some EQ meat and body. The bass REALLY needs a push to anchor this work. A marked push. Tis' lacking noticebly. 2) Kick drum MIGHT need adjustment (amplitude/skin) in the mix when the bass line ...

Dear FuzzyFreddy, This gal has a beautiful voice and a very cool vibe. Like her a lot. I also like what you did with the three 2 minute songs I did review in "hi-fi" streaming format. Balance sounds nice. Effing Marshalls can be great on vocals. Would love to hear a snippet of this at CD qua...

Re: we NEED demonstrations TODAY!

I actually DO hate america today. I hate that I live in a country where 58 million people voted for an idiot who plainly doesn't give a flying fuck about the future. I hate all the self-righteous christians who want to turn me into a second-class citizen, and who deny science, reality and even logi...

Re: Problems running M-Audio Delta 66 card with Dell 400SC S

Cool Edit Pro v. 1.2a on a new Dell 400SC
Could this be a mismatch in itself? CEP 1.2 be old, mon! I am using a Delta 66/omni-studio with a Dell 8400 with Adobe Audition with no problems you describe. Something is seriously wrong as you no doubt realize. Best of luck! --Lee

Re: Monitors on a budget

Yorkville YSM1P's. They go down to 35hz, clean punchy presentation, have trim pots, cost a little over 400 bucks U.S......and they are (well) made in Canada! I am VERY happy with mine and recommend them highly in this price range. Google them extensively and you will at least SEE what the audio worl...

Re: The LOUD mastering bug has got me.

In my experiments (I am a mad scientist) in my castle, I have noticed that subtle, graduated, calculated doses of multiband compression (at 3 levels) LISTENING........and then more listening.....eq'ing, perhaps expanding things if applicable and gentle hard limit to -.5 DB makes even classic older r...

Re: Sound Cards and A/D converters

I have had the Delta Omni Studio for a few weeks and I am VERY pleased with the clarity and the nice interface.... for MY needs, anyway. The M-audio folks and the dudes at Audio-midi.com are first class. I, however, am simply amazed at the amount of discontent I hear from many on the net about how ...

Re: Delta Omni Studio volume imbalance @ lowest threshold vo

i notice this effect mostly on consumer volume pots...the only thing i can think of is that it has to do with the wiper on the dual-resistive pot not completely making contact with both elements of the resistor at the extreme position. standard resistors aren't precision components. don't worry abo...

Delta Omni Studio volume imbalance @ lowest threshold volume

On my new Delta Omni Studio, there seems to be a favoring of the right side audio---ONLY...when the volume is very, very low. When I lower the volume down to threshold hearing, the right side DEFINATELY sounds louder, but seems to even out with progressive increase in gain adjustments. This is noted...

Re: Film scores

Donnie Darko. Great trippy mind-fuck of a flick, indeed! So trippy that I attempted to do a cover OF a cover, "Mad World" with my Kurzweil workstation. Originally done by Tears For Fears, then beautifully covered by Gary Jules for "Darko". This tune is played concommitantly at the end of the film wi...
