WTB iZ Radar 24 power supply/MB. Radar V?. Mostly power supply

I need a new power supply for my Radar 24. Also interested in having another mother board around. A whole parts chassis would be awesome, but I'm pretty sure my cards are okay, so mostly just looking for a known working power supply and mother board. But, let me know what you have. Depending. I don'...

Looking for Yamaha PM1000 32 ch. console frame/chassis in pacific NW

Hi, I might have a line on a bunch of modules but the seller unfortunately preemptively destroyed the 32 channel frame. I know it's common to part these guys out. Anybody have a complete frame/chassis still kicking around? Somewhere in the pacific NW? Please contact me if you do. I'll take it off yo...

"Everybody has to be 100% into going for keeper takes all together" Yeah, I actually started this thread after having done this a number of times anyway. I just wanted to see what other folks said. But if I'm in a band it's my favorite way to record. It's kind of like, the point of having a band wit...

Recording while monitoring vocal thgough wedge/monitor

This is regarding going for everything at once. Vocals included, monitored like they would be at a show, though a wedge. I don't suppose it would HAVE to be on the floor though. Just curious if anybody has any tips or tricks here. I guess supercardiod vocal mics would be good. Figure of 8 ribbons ma...

Yeah, this also avoids having a rhyming dictionary lying about which is embarrassing. You're basically pretty smart if you have some bad ass regular dictionary sitting around and it says 'Oxford' on it. A thesaurus is of course handy for writing a paper or something, but in some circles might be fur...

Latency when reamping for acoustic reverb?

I've always sort of wondered about this. When sending a track out to a speaker in a room and then capturing the sound for reverb purposes, does one add a bit of delay to avoid latency? Or by virtue of it being delayed anyway (in a natural space and the distance from mic to speaker/wall etc) is it un...

RIP Andrew Loomis of Dead Moon

Ahhhh, jeez. This one really gets me. I arrived late to the Dead Moon thing, but I think they're the great American Rock and Roll band. The kings of DIY. They found a way, and one day they'll be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame I have no doubt. Having seen Fred and Toody play by themselves and with...

Sounds like you want to roll your own more than buying a pcb etc. but have you heard of the Green pres over at GroupDiy. Pretty cheap, IC based, supposedly sound pretty good. I can't find the main thread at the moment, or who exactly is doing the PCB's but here's a couple for sale just to get a visu...

Tascam 58 OB reel to reel. Many upgrades. Ready to roll. . .

Hi folks, I have here a very nice condition Tascam 58 tape machine for sale. The pinnacle of Tascam's 8 track reel to reels. It's had a lot of work done and the last time I aligned it (about 3 weeks ago) I was able to get it flat up to 20K. The transport is perfectly aligned. It's very smooth. Proba...

Wait, so, let's say you're needing to do a pretty tight punch in. You're monitoring the direct to digital version, but setting the punch in and out points on the tape delayed version right? Does this have anything to do with CLASP? (I suppose I could google that in the time it's taking to write this...

Another thing is (speaking from experience here,) you might have wound up with the mic up high like that because your monitoring situation is telling you that's the best balance because, for example you might be hearing that it's too boomy with the mic placed otherwise. There might be a better balan...

This sounds like a good idea and I haven't tried it yet. So, overdubbs are forced to line up with the original tracks? (that is, after the distance from the record to repro head is accommodated by slipping the track back in time?) What happens as the tape machine motor varies the speed ever so sligh...

The 58 has a good amount of proximity effect but if it's not close enough you can't utilize it. Plus, 4 tracks don't have a lot of low end anyway. So yeah, boost that shit on the way in (or on the way out)

I do this sort of thing all the time. I don't understand people recommending the 414's. They're going to get more PA and more guitar in the vocal mic. You won't be able to get the vocals as loud in the room. Will probably be harder to mix after the fact because of the bleed. Plus, I sort of hate the...
