Audiomarketing Big Red Monitors, extra driver, orig xovers
Here is a pair of Audiomarketing Big Reds that we recently unearthed. This also includes an EXTRA DRIVER in a shipping box (useful if you want to have one reconed in the future). These were slated to be the soffit monitors in Electrical Audio Studio A, but the Westlakes we currently use fit the slot...

I sold mine recently for $1200, but I had just done a bunch of work on it (JRF relapped the heads, rewired pin 2-hot, thoroughly cleaned, replaced some parts, did a full alignment including aligning the input, output, VUs, SRL, &c). and included a bunch of stuff (1-year old MRL, 2 extra IEC channel ...

Re: Old Patchbay Assembly
Thought I'd cross-post this here in case anyone in the Nashville area was interested. I MAY be willing to ship but not sure it would be worth the costs to anyone considering the weight. Open to offers/suggestions. Thanks, http://nashville.craigslist.org/msg/5452411799.html If I'm not mistaken, thos...

Can't tell much from the MCI pics. The Otari heads and everything else in the tape path looks dirty, but that doesn't mean much. It's not oxide buildup, it looks like tape buildup. The Quantegy/ Ampex tape stocks "shed" after a certain age and that's what it looks like is gunking up your heads. You ...

Hard to make too much out from the pictures but it looks well-built and nicely functional. What are the ICs? Am I judging correctly that it's inline with 3-band parametric eq on every channel? Any chance of getting a picture of that minimal master section? And would you care to take a picture of the...

As I understand it, high-output tape (911 is "+6" to 900's "+9") would actually be harder to saturate. The higher output level means the tape can take more fluxivity (level) without pushing into the tape compression and saturation territories. Here's RMGi's chart for overbias levels. If you're machi...

VU calibration/ Tape Alignment without outboard oscillator
Hey all, I've been refurbishing an Otari Mx5050 8-track. I finally got all parts installed, got a demag tool, alignment tape, and a new reel (of 1/2" ATR Master tape). I have aligned Studer A820 and ATR-102 decks many times, so I'm comfortable with the alignment process. I don't have a Loftech, so I...
