you're right...Grant could and probably would play through anything. A Twin just makes it easy to get THE tone of electric guitar. GREAT looking Gibson 8) sure, seems like if you have 'half a lick of sense' supplying some weasel-toned solid state bull or modded out '70's fender for backline would be...

[In my opinion the Twin is only good for Surf music. It is so loud, so clean. uhhh  you gotta be kidding... seems to be the only way to get official sounding Grant Green swids... not to mention Junior Brown using 2. for me the ultimate tele amps are the tweed deluxe, tweed champ, victorias etc....

another vote for the VERBZILLA...it's quiet, easy and sorta does a spring thing, it's a pedal. Doesn't suck tone either...I did try the EH holy grail and it thinned out the tone bigtime. Make sure you get an adaptor cause the battery won't even last through one long set. Aside from using a real tank...

yes..it is comforting knowing it's my weak skills. I find every session getting better... and eqing and compressing less has seemed to help me. The gain structure of the board seems to play into the overall tonality. If you don't push it as hard it seems to be more open. Also, I have been using a AT...

wow...very interesting. I will be mixing some new stuff later this week and should be able to tell if the extra noise is compromising my signal. I consider myself a novice and had my board set-up so I could just walk in and mix quick, however it seems like I should be getting a better spectrum of to...

yes my ears need to be re-capped... thanks for all the replies. I'll zero out the board here now too so I'm not left wondering. The Topaz seems very quiet...I think it is my lack of good eq skills and mic placement that is making my mixes sound uninteresting. How much is a good re-cap for the ears? ...

unused faders/fidelity
hi all, dummy me noticed while mixing I had a lot of unused faders assigned to either LR or busses or BOTH. Even though the channel fader is down all the way, could this be effecting the fidelity of my mixes? Putting too much unwanted signal into the summing of the mixer? Sometimes I am suprised at ...

The Epiphone Sheraton is a really great guitar. I had a good 'un for several years. It took some serious road abuse, sweat, and demanding musical torture. When I bought it used ($450), the pickups had been raised a bit so it had REALLY hot output, a real screamer. Very versatile for quiet jazz tones...

Re: Blood Sugar Sex Magic and your F you indie spirit
dumb post...I agree with Robert Johnson, it's the song and the emotion. I thought it was obvious to everyone here that you can make great records at home..guess I was misguided. Seems like this post belongs on one of the more knucklehead forums like recording.org...those guys seem like they invite t...

Re: What Did You Work On Today? 2-05-05
Just finished mixing 5 songs for an upcoming CD by a pianist/singer in the vein of vintage Ruth Brown, Laverne Baker...9 songs to go. Been recording in between taking care of my son and gigging. One great thing here though is a borrowed Focusrite Red 7 channel strip...wow. Made a huge difference on ...

Re: Ignorance
Hi Chris, well, let me start off by saying I read your posts often and respect your opinion and general outlook on music and sound. I don't post here that often but read the board every day. With that said I can honestly affirm that your honesty and integrity come through in your posts. This "guy" i...

yeah, dig...chords are like THREE notes...check out the movie "Genghis Blues", about the guy that really does sing two note "chords"...in Mongolia. He does sing with soul though...amazing.

hi Dan, yes that is the series..Ivory 2. First let me say that your website with the pre comparisons was enlightening, I really couldn't tell much of a difference between the TL and the Averill,Studio Projects and others...it's there, but not double$$ away. Of course ANYONE would probably prefer to h...
