Please Check my Pad Math

Ok, so I'm experimenting with building an L pad on an unbalanced input that the manual says is 10k. I'd like to know what resistors to use in the scenarios of 10db, 15db, and 20db. After all of my reading and researching the numbers just don't look right. These equations came from here. So.... For 1...

Check the "Some stuff to read..." sticky at the top of the DIY forum page. Building cables is a good way to learn how to solder. Kits unfortunately don't often teach you what each part of the circuit does. That was my stumbling block. I'm only now starting to understand the odd thing here and there ...

Or you could just install iPod Linux on it. http://www.ipodlinux.org/Main_Page I have a battery powered electret I plug into my 4gen iPod, boot it in linux mode, and record at up to 96k/16bit wav for rehearsals and jams. Technically you could even use one of the white headphones but it's worth it fo...

(added:someone already mentioned this now, sorry) There is two philosophies behind the construction of headphones. The first is open designs. They have...well...open...backs. This allows The sound to bounce on, in, and off the ear more realistic to the real world. This design is usually used on more...

It seems to me that if it was a shielding problem it would be RF you were hearing. I'd still lean towards a ground loop of some kind. I don't know bass electronics well but as I peek in mine the grounds go to all the pots aswell.

My old studio used them with astounding success accoustically, even when someone forgot to close one of them, but the doors get abused so much that the track wears down fast, makes it difficult to close, and instead of forking out the dough for new doors and frame most busy people just live with it ...

The thing that sucks about your approach is that once your ability outgrows the 1ch strip you'll need to re-buy everything. If you really are on a tight budget it's much more cost effective to go the modular route. Buy a cheap pre, a cheap eq, a cheap comp. Then when it's time to upgrade you simply ...

My 002r would have had the BLA mod yesterday. Man I'm excited to get it back. No phone calls yet so I assume nothing blew-up.

I've used the pre/eq and it was stellar. Ultra-clean and smooth but almost too clean for many sources that need some rock grit. I remember looking at the compressor and liking the options. The sound is probably ultra-clean aswell so that may or may not suite what you'd use it for.

Thanks guys. Yes the langley mod board is just out and the pics are nice but at 20GBP each and 28 channels it's not gonna happen. That's half the total value of the board. I'm not particularly worried about common mode rejection in my very short cable run but will think about the pre-post idea. Very...

Someone had it set up "just the way they like it". That mono switch is useful though. Who really uses dim anyway?

It does go to the master faders and it's soldered on the other end. One of them is left and one is right so you better figure that out, or wait to do it by trial and error. The molex connectors use little teeth to bite through the wire and make contact without soldering. You can simply cut any old m...

oh I know....it's the good ol "remove the headphone jack" MOD. I think it's supposed to improve clarity and dynamic range. It also keeps your coffee hotter for longer.
