I was comparing the "fragile" Mackie to my old tube analog mixers, full of 1/2 watt and 1 watt resistors, 4722 and TL-1a transformers and all sockets filled with Telefunkens. Each one of my tube mixers weighs nearly as much as my Mackie.

Mixing old with new. Just bought MacBook Pro

I have collection of lovingly restored analog gear. All tube mixers, LA-2A and Pultec reproductions. I also have a Mackie ProFx16 mixer I use for live work. I've never recorded to anything but a reel to reel. I'd like to use the Mackie's USB out to record to the MacBookPro. My question is can I use ...

rT-701

Who in the SFO Bay Area is qualified to set up and repair Pioneer RT-701 recorders.
I want to use it to make informal recordings of band practices, it gives us immediate feedback on vocal arrangements. The left channel records distorted and I've run out of troubleshooting ideas.

Ampex UTC P-1245. (B-6299)

I have one of these UTC P-1245 transformers that was removed from a parted out Ampex 350. I'd like to use it in a DIY compressor or ribbon mic preamp. All of the leads and shorting links have been removed. Does anyone know the specifications, pinout and hookup options for this transformer? Any help ...

Yes, it will work. In 1967-71 era it was our bands only option. We figured that's why Fender amps had two channels. Yes, we were young and naive, nobody got killed, yes we got lips shocked.

Now there are cheap options available that weren't available back in my high school days.
