Re: Overdrive pedals educate me
I'm always looking for pedals that can do the just breaking up overdrive and not chop the bass. Just got the MXR Timmy and it's doing the job, also have the Menatone Red Snapper.

Re: How many guitar amps?
I'm down to 2... my Henriksen Bud and Quilter Steelaire. Both plenty loud, take pedals really well, and don't take up much real estate. As much as I loved my Sovtek MIG60 and bassman cabs, it was too much and sold it this past year. Since I do more soundtracky stuff, I can't really use the buzzy won...

For inspiration (arrangement is more important than gear)

Compilation Album to help rebuild the Twin Cities (I'm on it!)
Living 3 miles from where George Floyd was murdered, and less than 1 mile from major looting in St Paul, we've been dodging helicopters and reports of unmarked cars (license plates removed) starting fires all over the Twin Cities, in addition to the main action. Silver lining- a friend of mine and I...

Re: WTB: Alesis HD24XR or comparable...
I ahould point out that the HD24 has ADAT input and output channels, so you can connect an interface of your choice. Also you can explore convert the drives from IDE to SATA to get modern 1TB+ drives

Neve flavor
Not desperate, more curious: Anything I’m truly missing using Neve flavored preamps, especially for acoustic guitar? I have been using a WA 412 and having lots of fun with it, especially trying different compressors with it. What say you all? Less interested in drum applications, more other instrume...

Re: Chairs?
Don’t laugh, but my seat of choice is a piano bench. For whatever reason, I find it most comfortable and versatile. It also helped I sat on one every day for 10 years growing up playing the piano LOL!

Re: Coronavirus Plans (what are yours?)
American Primitive guitarists I'm not really sure, but I think this is what my friend Rob Noyes does. Regardless of what you call it, he's a remarkable guitar player: https://robnoyes.bandcamp.com/ I have met Rob multiple times, and he is a truly remarkable player (and yes very much in the American...

I have to say, it's now sounding pretty darn good. Now to dial back just enough compression.... (not much to begin with)

I'm such an idiot! (You all know that already)
I did a phase inversion on 1 channel, and it went away.
One of the mics was facing the opposite way.

Blumlein!
Now that I'm back in the basement to record again... ... I'm trying to record a solo acoustic guitar. I have a pair of Sterling ribbon mics in Blumlein (using the Cascade mic mount) about 6" from the 14th fret of my dreadnought. Sounding pretty good (using a WA 412 into the new WA 2 buss compressor)...

Re: Coronavirus Plans (what are yours?)
Major delurking by physically relurking! So glad the board is still going... during the lockdown I've been revisiting what made me happy, and this board was one of those places. Sappy, but true! So I took a meandering path over the last several years musically. Played in a band for a year or so, ban...

If you need more than 2 channels, there are multiple used Presonus ACP88 units on reverb.com for under $300. Heck, I may need to get one!

A worthy successor to your 238, I hope?
Do give us an update! Especially curious if the onboard compressors and effects are usable.
