WTB: Trident Fleximix Modules

I have some open slots in a console I just bought. I'm looking for preamp strips and groups. Let me know what you have!

Slightly off track, but I frequently turn off my computer monitor when playing back a take I just edited or comped. So neither myself or the band can see where the edits are. It's a good way to really tell if you have any edits that are noticeable - and it's like a fun party trick for bands that wer...

Has anyone tried putting a mic in figure-eight between the regular kick and the resonant kick? That could sound cool. Could be phase issues though, I'm not sure. No recording digs right now so I can't try. Off topic: I had a GC5 tape that someone mailed me in the Book Your Own Fucking Life" days. I ...

I have nothing to contribute to the actual question posed in this thread. I just wanted to second that - go get Black Dots now.

While I agree that six channels isn't a lot, I don't think you shouldnt try it. Even with a crummy mixer (I don't know much about the one you have) your recording will at least sound different. Try it with a few things and make a mental note of the differences and you'll have it in your bag of trick...

I had a room with very similar dimensions and I would use a delayed room mic with a little reverb added to make it sound bigger. It works pretty well. However, something that helped me a lot was side chaining the room mics off the kick, so when the kick hit the room sound was lowered. For me hearing...

If your not mixing and they are going to be simulating a larger string section I would get the cleanest most untouched (no room) sound you can, be it stereo or mono. M/S sounds great in a great room, but will your room still sound ok with multiple layers of strings recorded in there? Will the room s...

The past 5 or 6 months have been have been pretty great gear wise. I got a pair of 414 b-uls's Auratone monitors 2 EV 635's A Cad E-200 I bought one of those $75.00 passive summing mixers on eBay. I paid the guy some extra and had him add a few mono inputs. I did my first mix with it today and I'm r...

Hi, I'd look at your own other thread : http://messageboard.tapeop.com/viewtopic.php?t=74145 Logical When he made the thread I think there was a double post, because the threads were created at almost exactly the same time. It looks like no one caught it and some people replied to one and some repl...

I have a few different things that I use, some were cheap and some weren't. I have a Sebatron preamp that can overdrive really well. The input has a three position switch that basically goes from clean to broken up to overdrive. It's a tube unit, so i usually set it to break up when the singer belts...

I bought a pair of c414s (b-uls) a few months back, but I'm between spaces to I only had a few quick chances to use them. I finally got some time to set my stuff up and mess around with them in an m/s pattern. I recorded brushed snare, ukelele, and melodica. It sounds so good! I can't wait to be bac...

A few times when I have recorded very stripped down bands like that, in their rare moments of heavyness I usually also ramp up the drums, maybe entroducing a heavyily limited room mic or bring up the compression bus if I'm using one. If you don't want to do that, I would try doubling the new track. ...

Another cool option... One kick, one condenser overhead, and one mic in front of the kit placed to the side in between the hi hat and rack tom at the snare height about 1 to 2 ft. off the kit. Cool far away snare/room sound... I do something very similar. A mic inside the kick, a mic over the drumm...
