Re: Analog guy getting computerized!
Intel designed the Celeron in the late 90's to drive the cost of the home computer down by eliminating level 2 cache (memory built onto the processor). The Celeron isn't a bad chip if you want to do Word, Excel, and play solitare all day. Trying to run a DAW on a Celeron is like trying to tow a trai...

Re: Pro Tools HD192 Accel / G5 Freezing
Have you checked the sleep/power save function on your G5? I know that if that kicks in ProTools can act a little squirley.
If that isn't the problem then I'm going to say it's the unauthorized plug-ins. Get rid of them, they're bad karma!!

Putting ProTools online has to do with clocking/syncing ProTools to/with a console, another tape machiene, etc. to ProTools. When you go into your Session Setup window you'll see moreoptions regaurding this. You can either m...

Re: Geeky audio observation watching a movie last nigh
The audio equaivalent of the French Bread Rule is The PA Feedback Rule, which states that any character in a movie shown speaking into a public address microphone will, almost immediately after opening their mouth, be greeted by a short burst of feedback--to quickly and simply communicate that a) t...

I voted over used, it's OK on somethings but on the whole I think people use it as there safety fallback mic. It's probably by least favorite on a snare top....

I was at a studio that had this tiny desk (no more then a foot and a half deep and about 2 and a half feet wide) that had a mount for an LCD monitor and a small keyboard/mouse tray on wheels that they were using for thier DAW. It really reminded of the Studer remote. Does anyone know where to pick s...
