Re: m

Actually, the RTAS plugins don't show up whatsoever, with the exception of the "Instruments" folder. inside the "Instruments" folder, I only have the click plug-in. All my TDM plugs show up as usual, but the only TDM reverb I have is D-verb, and I hate it. Did you try setting them as multi-mono ins...

I recommend crucial.com. They supposedly sell you the best chips for your specific model.

Make sure you install the latest firmware update before you install the RAM. I didn't, and my computer went all kooky.

I actually like the sound of multiple "cheap" reverbs. That's spooky! I was just about to ask if using more than one "cheap" reverb would make them any more useful. Joel, are you the ghost in my studio? If so, try not slam any more doors while I'm tracking. I've come to terms with the hauntings, bu...

I've ever used a direct box for reamping, but it seems improper. A direct box converts a line level or instrument signal into mic level. What you want is something to convert line level into instrument level, which I'm assuming are closer to one another than instument level and mic level. You's be b...

Yeah, my TDM plug-ins work, but the RTAS don't. I bought the FXPansion so I could use some of the free VST reverb plugins that beat the pants off the DVerb. I'll figure a way around it somehow. In the meantime, I may have to live on demos for a while. Thanks everyone. John I have just made an audio...

I'm going to borrow a 414 to match mine and try that because Chris Garges told me that its cool. This year, I've had records come out with the following overhead arrangements: Neumann SM2 (MS) in front of the kit AT 4051s spaced on either side of the drummer's head AT 4051s in X-Y above the kit KM8...

create an aux input track, stereo or mono. assign the input an unused bus, like 1-2 as you said put the reverb (or whatever plug) on the aux track on the tracks you want to send to it, click on one of the 5 sends (below the plug-ins) assign the send to the same bus as the aux input adjust the send ...

RTAS plug ins on Aux input track in Pro Tools.

I've been using aux input channels as effects channels in Pro Tools. For instance, I'll add a stereo aux input channel, set the input to buss 1-2, and send snare drums, vocals, whatever over to it, adding a reverb plug as an insert. I have some RTAS plug-ins that I'd like to use this way, but I can'...

I wonder if it's an OS problem. I've had funky stuff happen with plug-ins that upgrading to the most current version of my OS solved. I was in Mac OS 10.3.8, and my FxPansion was acting weird. I upgraded to 10.3.9, and it works better. I have a focusrite eq that was bundled with my system that works...

Thanks everybody for all the info. I was a little worried there for a moment. Now I can concentrate on other things, like getting my tape machine properly aligned, and getting my console to stop shocking me!

Thanks, I feel a little better.

My console is an analog board (It's a Soundcraft 1624 from 1979, and quite a turd at the moment). When I get around to having my machine aligned, should I have 0 db on the tape machine and the board match?

Thanks,

John
