I've been spoojing all over the place on another board about a bunch of his bands. great links to vids, etc so check it out. http://forum.rekordsrekords.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=51005 My favorite of all his projects would have to be Hot Snakes. 3/4 of that band has now emerged with The Night Ma...

after the first post was made i also picked up this record. i have to agree with everything said although it took 3-4 listens to get me there. i've always looked forward to lee's turn on vox the most and was at first let down with his 'rats.' in retrospect it's more due to kim and thurston stepping ...

Every time i go to pick up the mail i'm usually prepared to throw it all right into the recycling box. but then, just when i forget and finally stop waiting for a new tape op, there it is! sometimes it's like winning the lottery, like when you see "rancho de la luna" right there on top! to record wi...

Hope I'm not jumping on the train too late. These are all worth checking into. I'm kind of embarrassed that I consider this many records to be "masterpieces." I guess I was reaching a little bit as some will appeal to a certain segment, and others to others. in alphabetical order (minus obvious Beat...

2007 I'd Recommend: (in no particular order) -Queens of the Stone Age "Era Vulgaris" each of their records is their 'best' in one regard or another, so this is their best. -Andrew Bird "Armchair Apocrypha" - it was hard hearing this as a 'new' record or collection of songs as i'd heard them all live...

i found a discussion on the gearslutz forum from a year back about modding a MXL V67. In the thread someone said it would make the mic close to the MCA SP1 in design. Another person commented, "Furthermore, from examining the "Dorsey mod" as it is shown in the magazine article, it is very likely tha...

can someone familiar with this mic help me diagnose a problem i've been having? it might just be a design issue but i'm a musician, not a techie.
i posted a thread in the gear forum:

after another few hours playing around, the uneven waveform seems proportional to proximity to the speaker, i.e., the farther I back it away, the more normal it gets... BUT! this is what I had thought at first (just overloading and clipping the mic) but that doesn't explain why (as pictured) it star...

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2153/1874424169_8317460ac2_o.jpg I've been basement recording for years now, but have little beyond common knowledge when it comes to the science of all this. I recently purchased two MCA-SP1's based off praise on this board, and having two extra condensers around nev...

Looking for people to play with in Chicago - post/punk/hc/noise/touch&go/ i know this a recording board but plenty of people lurk like me. i posted this on the EA board so please look past it's slant. obligatory list of bands: roky erickson, scratch acid/jesus lizard, giant sand, sabbath, califone, ...
