Re: how rediculously far have your DIY leanings gone?!

I think DIY gear is the most rewarding -you actually build your own sound. Inevitably, as your experience (or solder fume intake) increases, you begin mod-ing everything, designing your own circuitry along the way. Rock on with your bad self building your own console. Re: anyone building the sherlock?

definitely want to revisit the hole size recommendations; I think the 1/4" jack one was recommended for 5/8??? I'll PM you Drew - all in the spirit of helpin out. That said, it's together, and sounds disgusting (perfect!), just like the Level Loc, but without the noise and '9v' sound. Way to go Drew!

anyone building the sherlock?

Got a question - it looks like the bit size is wrong for the power jack etc. - should be 7/16, not 7/32...anyone?

Re: Using a direct box and/or a pre

I've got a ditto, and it friggin kicks ass. One of the best tube DIs I've heard. I'm interested in the Brick, too, but I have to get a Hamptone first. Have to. Like, I'll get sick if I don't.

Solder fever....yeeeeehaaaaa!

Re: best mic of 2003

Yeah, I'll agree with the e609. I didn't hear the R84, but Dooley knows his shit, so it's probably pretty good.

What, no votes for the RODE "how I spent 1.2 million" mic?

That guy cracks me up. That's like Michaud's Mytek ads from 5 years ago that showed him walking around with a shotgun. Silly.

Re: Photos of YOU

That is THE most rockin garage I have ever seen. Instruments, SPAM, dirt bikes, Pick Floyd, banana boxes, hazardous chemicals, and I think I saw an engine block hanging from the ceiling. Fuckin genius.

Re: Need eBay help!

Thanks for not being one of those guys who would have posted:

Whirlwind Rack 1x3 4-Channel MIC SPLITTER! Not Neve, API, Focusrite, Avalon, Helios, Trident, Neumann, Telefunken, Fairchild, or Pultec.

That pisses me off.

now it works. must have been a server fart.
Yup, that's the board. I like plasma meters - they're fun to look at.
I'll stick with my original 'ehhh' on sound. Kind of sort of reminded me of an Amex Einstein. Ehhh.

I used one once. It was ehhh. But it was ergonically well designed. BTW, the link doesn't work without a period either.
