I have heard the Micro Clock MK2 transform 002 units, Tascam and Presonus stuff into a way more useful and clear sound. On the right unit needing a better clock, it can shine. It was not too subtle...! Another fairly recent clock listening session was the RME's "Steady Clock" (in their more expensiv...

I would snag the FOCAL Solo 6 Be if possible, or check out the Event Opal. Neither are "cheap" by many budget standards, but both are smooooth yet revealing speakers that shine in their own right.

The M179 is an incredible mic on lots of stuff, it's like a $600 for $149 in my opinion. I've always considered it the "poor man's 414" as it works on just about anything at least well, if not very very well. The patterns are completely variable as well, you simply roll the pattern wheel to select h...

The Yamaha MSP5 is an excellent small monitor. The midrange detail and clarity is great at any price point, the bonus is they are affordable. The low end response is very even handed, not muddy (like those RP series KRK...yes they are muddy). The HS80M continues to be a top choice in that price rang...

The Yamaha MSP5 are excellent.

I always liked the old KRK V6 II if you can find them used and in good shape.

Excellent 6" speaker with great midrange detail.

The Great River is without question one of the biggest bass sounds available for DI recording. I agree it is great for guitar cabs also (mic pre).

I wonder if an EQ might do you better though...!

Yes, I encourage you to check them out in your own place and decide. I try to be as easy on returns as I can when needed, which is luckily rare.

I found that the bell curves gave me the results that I look for in coupling an HP filter with a low shelf EQ...boost without bloat. Yup, that was the first thing I noticed when EQ'ing a kick drum: you can bring a great boost with the bell (at say 50hZ) without a bunch of sub bass junk coming up. I...

Kick Snare OH Toms (rack and floor) Bass Male Voc Female Voc Ac Gtr Cello Stereo Mix Buss Some of them you can line up in your DAW and play around with together. Many of them I pushed pretty hard, too. If anybody w...
