Thanks for the replies, folks...
You are correct, of course. I should have given you more to work with... I started recording in the early 1960's with an old wire recorder my Dad let me have, moving rather quickly to a very small portable Grundig recorder with a wierd blue exclamation point VU light, then a 3340/M308 in the 70s... ...

I'm trying to buy smart...
What software are you using to record/edit/mix/master?
I'm moving from protools 8 to something else...
And I'm thinking I should get rid of the Alesis HD24XR since it's been discontinued...
It never seems to end.
Any suggestions?

i can't offer anything useful here (SORRY), but when you get this sorted out, please post some of that info! I know i'd DEFINITELY like to know the pin out to make a better cable for this mic! -James Hi James, The back-shell just unscrews from the front(pins) section. Total of 4 parts: strain relie...

Did you remove the screw on the connector? I don't see any screw... I'll feel very silly if I've missed something that simple... I'm talking about the black plastic Hirshmann 7 pin connector. I'm sorry, I guess that end screws into the power supply. I don't have it here, and was attempting to work ...

Word clock question...
I'm trying to use a BRC to master clock all my digital stuff...
How do I hook up more than one unit?
BRC has a BNC out...
Do units get daisy chained, or do I have to split the output of the BRC somehow? Adapters?
Thanks.
Bob

If you have a console, are you dumping it for digital? <m
Kind of tough to get the question into the space provided... and I know I'm gonna stir up a lot of "it depends" answers, but... Are those of you who record/mix and currently own an analog console leaving them for mixing in the Dell? Or in PT? Do people listen with their eyes and grant you more crede...

Any ideas what a 36X24X2 Trident 24 console is worth?
Sounds great, all functions good... Ash console, factory square steel stand... I just don't know what it's worth in today's PT based market... It has an spare input module and a spare master module, a complete extra set of NOS replacement 100mm faders in a box, a repair parts kit, all cabling is Mog...

I've seen some of the writeups, but don't know if I trust myself to make the mods...
Is somebody providing this service?

Re: PRO VLA arrived... <m>
I just spoke with the ART tech guy, 'cause I'm still tweaked about this... He tells me they decided the 12at7 works best, and were putting them into the good ( USA ) machines as well ( good = USA decision was mine, not his )... He claims no other differences between Chinese and USA... That remains t...

Are you selling off your adats?
I've got 3 adats and a BRC that I can't decide whether to keep or not... I don't really use them much any more, but due to this delusion I labor under that someday I may really have a viable studio, and someone may bring in adat tapes they need to have transferred, or mixed, or something, and the st...

Re: PRO VLA arrived... <m>
I listened to it first... Maybe I'm just listening for something not there... I put source material through the Pro VLA and a/b'd against a Drawmer dl241 and a FMR RNC... IMHO, both the Dramer and RNC were more versatile, from transparent compression through squash... Not bad sound with the VLA, per...

Re: PRO VLA arrived... <m>
Ordered last friday 11/5/2004... Arrived today... Not upset about the shipping... Just what was shipped... Still wondering about the tubes... If a 12ax7 has a gain of 100 and the 12at7 has a gain of 75 or so, and I change the tubes, what happens to the calibration which was supposed to have happened...
