WTB Electrovoice N/D 308/408/468

Hello,

Anyone up here in the Pacific Northwest who's got a few of these swivel-type mics around they wouldn't mind getting rid of?

Or, the rest of the country?

Let me know what you want for them. Thanks!

FS: THE Audio CA-4 SDC

Hey folks, I have for sale a T.H.E. Audio CA-4 SDC with switchable capsules (cardioid and omni). Very nice, compact little mic with a snappy transient response. I've had good results with it as a mono drum OH, on snare, electric guitar, and occasionally vocals. There are a few cosmetic blemishes but...

Seattle/PDX engineers to meet?

Hello, I'm interested in meeting up with any Seattle or Portland-area audio engineers to talk shop, see where you work, and maybe even wrap some cables for you during a session. The past year and half I've been running a small studio space in Olympia, WA, which has been open to business since summer...

I've personally never had any problems with springs in the lugs rattling, unless they've come out completely and need to be reseated. Mostly I find it's internal tom dampers, loose tom mount bolts, bass drum leg mounts, etc. that make noise. The felt you added should be fine. I haven't used locking ...

Definitely agree with Artifex on the athletic clothes approach. Wicking base layer, with something to throw on when you're not playing. I have a pair of Hot Chillys for bicycle commuting, should work great for drumming too.

If you can find a bunch of those cheap digital keychain memo recorders I'm sure you hack them to do that.

If nobody's mentioned this already, drum heads make a huge difference too. Try 2-ply, predampened, or hydraulic heads on the batter and/or resonant side if it's too bouncy-sounding. I found a fairly reliable method for tuning bass drums is the 'lowest possible note' approach. Loosen all the lugs, an...

Partly what I'm saying is that you're the best judge of what you want. If you didn't find an answer in what's been written about these mics already, I don't think there's a certain answer to be found to your question. I would find a retailer, get them both, compare, and return the lesser one. Not tr...

I think you'll do fine with either. And, once you get another mic, you'll learn what you can't do with it.

If all else fails, you can always use a professional duplication company like National Audio Company. They're very affordable and can do short runs, various colors and tape types, on-tape labelling, etc. There are quite a few tape labels here in Olympia...and a lot of broken tape dupers. I like tape...

I have a pair of the 4040's, one of which I've owned for several years now. Pretty neutral sounding mic, not terribly flattering but generally consistent. It has a relatively open cardioid pattern that retains air on even close mic'ed instruments. It works on some voices but I find it to behave stra...

ID3 tags can't be stored on CDs. They can be stored in MP3s and to a limited extent in other file formats, but not audio CDs.

Maybe you're thinking of the CDDB/FreeDB database, that recognizes audio CDs and shows metadata.

I've been pretty happy with my Apex 210s after I removed the excessive windscreen filters and retensioned them. They've fared well as drum OHs and on acoustic guitar. They go for around $100.
