Re: Access privileges on old Mac hard drive

I'm trying to pull some files off an old hard drive from my dead computer. I put the hard drive into another Mac, and when I try to go into my documents folder, it says I don't have the access privileges to open these folders. Anyone have any idea how to get into these folders. Select the folder yo...

Depending on what you are trying to do, you can etch the face with the same acid that you would etch a circuit board with. It's a great look when done well. There's a tutorial on the diystompboxes.com forum by the user 'Slade'. Here it is: http://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?topic=80962...

Looking for someone to play synth in Brooklyn

We're a three piece making song oriented, electronic-infused rock-ish music. We'd like to add a second synth person to fully flesh out the songs, and to be able to play shows without having to resort to backing tracks. We're inspired by Brian Eno, The Cars, David Bowie, Fad Gadget, Gary Numan, John ...

You can do a certain amount of editing by using CSS. I think you put the CSS in your 'bio' field. To find the right tags, go through some myspace sites that you like elements of, view the source, and in there with some digging, you can see what's going on with the CSS. This may be way more DIY than ...

I downloaded this a year and a half ago, put it on my ipod, and promptly forgot about it! One of the tracks came up on random this week, so I sat and listened to the whole album. I really like it; an enjoyable listen!

Music From Outer Space has the subcommander, or you can add a guitar input to the Soundlab. While I haven't built it yet, there's a seemingly doable guitar to midi converter in the october issue of Everyday Practical Electronics. You can get most of the pertinent info here . There's also a project ...

Re: DIY Effect Pedal Kits-with bonus!

jack orman from amz is the bomb. the fulltone fat boost is a stolen jack orman design. r.g. keen and mark hammer are also the the forefathers of pedal building. I can't say enough positive things about those three guys! Their willingness to help complete strangers is not only very generous, but und...

Having modded a lot of my synths and pedals, I just want...more. Oh, I definitely know the feeling... I got Anderton's guitar projects book in the 90's as a teenager, and that's when the solder bug really bit me. His books definitely seem to be a catalyst for a lot of modders/builders out there. Yo...

Here are some more: For buying circuit boards, http://www.tonepad.com/ comes to mind as well. commonsound has some wild original projects. http://fuzzcentral.ssguitar.com/ doesn't sell circuit boards, but lists the schematics and layouts for some pretty decent pedal projects. If you roll your own ci...

First, I apologize for copying/pasting the second link wrong. The guitar pickup simulation article is for when you have a pedal (such as a fuzz face), and want to use an active guitar or use buffered pedals into it, and retain the feel of a passive guitar cabled directly into a fuzz face. The Guitar...

Back to simple Les Paul mods, I was under the impression that newer Les Pauls have a slightly different wiring than the 50's models. This link lists some of the different wirings. I tried out a wiring pretty close to the 'black rose custom' wiring on my old dark sounding custom, and I am happy with ...

My day job is in IT, and over the years, the only brand that has consistently given me trouble is Dell. I'm not saying that there aren't any good Dells out there, because there definitely have been some good models; but they have made some major turds of computers. I have had far better luck with HP...
