Can anyone recommend a good PCI firewire card for 1.6GHZ G5?

I'm looking to get a PCI firewire card fot my 1.6GHZ G5 for use with a Digi002R. Anyone out there have any preferences or ideas of which cards would be a good choice?

The first G5 is regular PCI, not PCI-X, correct?

Thanks

Easy VS880 to .wav conversion

It is possible. Get the tracks on a drive that you can connect to a PC, like an external SCSI HD or Zip/Jaz. Must be SCSI, cause that's what the VS has for I/O. Mount the external drive, copy all the tracks over. When you look at all the VS files on the PC, they will have .VR8 as the extension, and ...

Re: A rant regarding The GREY Album

I'd love to see authorized instrumental loops like mentioned above. Can we, however, agree that anything of Jay-Z's shouldn't be anywhere near Beatles tracks? Please? With sugar on top? I mean, couldn't DM find something better to mix with the White Album? (Yeah I get the "Grey Album" thing.) I can'...

Mine doesn't have an LED either.

This thing is great for $99.00. Period.

Re: Digi02 Rack & mac specifications (OS, etc)

Make sure to pay attention to the G4 specs listed on Digi website - I have a G4/400 with 720MB RAM, and PT 6.2.2 has troubles. It's usable but not ideal.

Get at least 512MB RAM, if not more. For sure.

Re: korg ES-1

It's pretty cool. The lo-fi quality kinda rules, but the bitch of it is getting the hang off putting your own sounds in. Once you master it, you're golden. The slice function is pretty easy and works surprisingly well, and the step interface doesn't take long to get the hang of. Buy a smart media re...

Re: help me make a mac formatted laCie harddrive work on my

As far as I know, you will NEVER be able to read the files from a MAC formatted HD on a PC without some sort of specialized software. You would have had to format the drive on the PC side, then connect that drive to the MAC (which can instantly acces PC formatted media), record your tracks, then con...

Re: what do you do when your not recording bands to make mon

This one's long - read at your peril. By day, I'm a mild-mannered graphic designer. I do websites and print stuff. I'm pretty bored with it, but I got bills like everyone else. Lots of legal problems (DUS, lawyers and Fines) and credit cards are tearing through my bank account like tissue paper. SO,...

I'd love to come, but no weeknight is good for the foreseeable future. I'll keep my eyes and ears open, though - I'd like to meet other Clevelanders doing cool stuff.

I have a TubePre, and it rules for $99.00. Use your own ears. I have a ghetto ProTools setup (Digi 002R) and it's great.

Re: Name Dropping thread

Sort of a name drop: My friend John Monte just joined Ministry. He used to be in Mindfunk and M.O.D. Met some cool cats when I worked at CMJ: Coldplay, Travis, Q-Tip, Gomez, Nikki Sixx, PJ Harveym Chemical Brothers....a few more. Awesome experience. Used to know that fag from Puddle of Mudd, Wes Sca...

Re: Electric Drum Story: Conclusion

I had a guy tell me that I was foolish for wanting to only play original music. According to him that meant I wasn't good enough of a musician to play music written by others. What a larf.

Re: The bell tolls for THEE!

Another thought: ACID has been out for years on the PC, and that sure hasn't set anything ablaze. People will fart around on Garageband, possibly make demos, but to get serious you'll need experience and ears. I'm sure you can get killer results on Garageband, but you'll still need to get good sound...
