any of the heavy-hitter large dynamics: RE20, SM7, 421, M88, etc. I'm pretty sure if I went and checked I could find a few records where those *were* all I used, except for ribbons or condensers on drum overheads & room mics. this article talks about recording Creedence with almost nothing but SM56s...

it's more three-dimensional ... literally.

just kidding. I've never used the software version. it seems like they have the same feature set so I'd guess they'd be nearly identical.

I worked in live sound too long to have anything but mistrust of Soundcraft stuff. plenty of people have told me otherwise, but I've never really liked any of their consoles. is the Delta current or older?

I'm in the process of buying a Squier Musicmaster Bass from a local shop at a very nice price. Apparently they made the Squier version only in 1996-97. I'm surprised how solid and playable this thing feels, particularly for a Chinese import. I compared it with a newer Squier PBass they also had and...

tried it on bass guitar, didn't love it so much. that was only once, though, on a song that had a ton of shit going on harmonically. on something a little more diatonic & straight-ahead it might be perfect, but in the case of this one song any super frequency-specific boost caused certain notes to j...

Little Labs VOG - holy crap

I am *really* digging this thing, on kick drum specifically. with two knobs and a couple of buttons it replaces what used to be twenty minutes of fiddling with outboard EQ and filters, for what seems to be a better result. I might just be in the honeymoon phase but I can't get enough right now. anyo...

took advantage of the MA tax-free weekend to grab a long-overdue Lunchbox & an AEA RPQ500 pre. the 'box is here, still waiting for the pre to arrive. very much looking forward to putting it thru its paces.

cool! I've been wondering about these for a while but haven't had the chance to use one. have you tried the uber-squash stuff, parallel drum buss or anything?

also curious how it compares to their RNLA, which I love deeply.
