Re: John Bonham hour
First of all I'm 45yrs old and have been listening to Zep for close to 40yrs. There was a time where that's all I listened to. JJP is the reason I started playing bass in the mid 70s. Secondly I'm not into the whole perfect timing like people locking everything to a grid do today. I never edit drums...

Re: John Bonham hour
Well I'm going to go with these aren't keepers. As far as the sound, this has to be a compressed talkback w/ extra mics. Maybe some rooms. It is not the sound on the records or even close. This is not the quote unqoute classic Bonham sound. Just because it has room ambience don't mean it is. Yes I h...

Re: John Bonham hour
I'm gonna go out on the limb here. We're sure these are actually Bonham tracks? Maybe since they're tracks that didin't make the records but the pocket doesn't seem right. The double eight kik grooves are rushed and so is the space between the kik and snare. At least on the first few I listened to. ...

Re: Microphones used on Zeppelin songs
I'm with Skeeter. The sound of both the bass and drums were ground breaking for 1969. The sound of Jones' bass is what conviced me to become a bass player some 29yrs ago. It's amazing how full and bassy it is yet without any treble you can hear every hi note. It isn't muddy just huge and full. And S...

Re: HIT FACTORY NYC CALLS IT AN ERA......
The art of recording has been going down the tubes for quite some time now. The tradition of coming up thru the system and learning from the resident masters are soon coming to an end. For everyone else I guess that's good since the bar has been lowered and now home recording artists stand a chance....

Re: Microphones used on Zeppelin songs
One of the downsides to the Page thing is he has always taken credit for everything. Ever heard Willie Dixon's version of Whole Lot of Love? They had to pay out eventually and change the credit like so many other blues songs they morphed but didn't write. With that said, he is responsible for so man...

Re: Microphones used on Zeppelin songs
Page used all sort of techniques. Many he learned from his days as a session player in the mid 60s. A master of hearing something in his head and making it happen. He had the good fortune to work with the most talented engs in music history and take those experiences to new places. Eddie Kramer was ...

API has not changed the length of their cards. I have a BAE lunchbox w/ BAE 312As, brand new API 512C and 560B and 2 OSAs. All fit fine. The problem was that API screwed up their lunchboxes at some point within the last 2 yrs. Not sure if it was a production run or if it's permanent. I had an API 6B...

Re: Power Supply for a Trident 65
Acopian Gold pwr supplies are what you want. I replaced my Flexmix supplies w/ a 10v & 36v supply. Huge difference. I had John Klett source the supplies. Tons of headroom. I think the 65 is based on the same design as the flexmix. You will have to redo all the pwr cable harnassing. I would addd copp...

Re: OSA gear
I'm the guy that offered up my OSAs. Sorry, broke my finger Monday so I haven't posted.
I wasn't bagging on the OSA, I just prefer my 512C & 312As. That's why I'm selling them. K.
