Re: Bass for sale - 80's Fender Precision '57 Reissue

Great price, and these basses are fantastic. Man, if I didn't just build one, I'd buy it. I got the same neck (57 reissue MIJ neck from '83) and put it on a mahogany body with some other mis-matched parts. I probably spent $500 putting it together, but well worth it. Someone should buy this bass... C

Actually, I'm surprised this didn't sell already...if I had some cash, I'd probably buy it...

WTB: Kick Drum Trigger

Something reasonable, like $50 or less...maybe an old pintech or something similar that will work with my DrumKat DK10.

Re: Need MIC suggestion for Glockenspiel

Just a quick mic suggestion...I've gotten great results using the Marshall MXL603 on glockenspiel/vibes/xylophone. It's almost an omni, so you can put one over and one under then mix to taste, or do a stereo set above, whatever. They're really cheap, too, like $50 each or so.

Re: "that's... crazy!" - utter BS claims by GC ass

Funny, I think people have so many GC horror stories because that's the only place they shop. If they really shopped at all the mom and pop stores, they'd have an equal number of horror stories about them. For years, living in Pasadena, I only shopped at the local small stores. Once I got to really ...

Re: "that's... crazy!" - utter BS claims by GC ass

My favorite from Guitar Center: Told to a friend of mine who had labored for *dozens* of hours over a [very finely made!] 5-string bass and was trying to find a case to fit its non-standard shape/length: "Well, maybe you could just trim the headstock and the sides a little bit to fit this one. Make ...

Re: Building a Rack Unit

Most rackmount audio gear is relatively light-weight. If you have a single piece of equipment that's really heavy going in there (like upwards of 30-40 lbs) you can buy adjustable support rails that fit between front and back holes. Otherwise, you normally just use the front holes with 4 screws. I m...

Re: Favorite Flaming Lips LP

What did it for me with Soft Bulletin was the beep-beep of watch right before the drum kit entrance on "What Is The Light."

Those two beeps are absolutely genius.

Re: What track have you tried to copy exactly?

I did "Mind Your Own Business" by Hank Williams (Sr.). I love the simple guitar lines/leads and the i-iv-v shuffle with the bellyache lyrics. My voice isn't even close, but the music is really close to the recording...

Re: WTB: Soundcraft Ghost, 1/4" 2-track, sandwich

I've got a vintage 2003 ham on rye I could let go for $250. It's got 2 12ax7's in the mustard stage, and the original lettuce was replaced with jensen transformers. it will probably need to be recapped, though; the ham is a bit fuzzy...though some people prefer it that way...you know, a really fucke...
