Mach 5 bug
When using Mach 5 with DP, there is distortion and crackling when using my midi controller and when clicking on the keyboard in the edit window. I have the faders down in DP and I used the sounds that came with Mach 5. Anyone else have this problem or have a suggestion to get rid of it?

Re: Which drive should I use?
Thanks for the responses. Both suggestions have been common. Partitioning the second drive is a good idea but most people have suggested a firewire drive for all the sample sounds. I think both would probably work well.

Which drive should I use?
I am setting up a new G5. It comes with a 160GB hard drive and I added another 160GB drive. I am using the drive it came with for my applications and the second drive to record on. Which drive should I put my samples on? A friend suggested recording onto the second drive and put all applications and...

Re: SOUND DESIGN
Great responses. Thanks. To clarify, I have been up for a few commercial/advertising jobs in the past that required sound design. I understand that it's a creative job and there is no "industry standard". I am looking for a starting point and thought that there might be certain techniques, devices, ...

SOUND DESIGN
What synths, software, sample libraries, etc. do people like using for sound design? Are there any "industry standards" for sound design? I'm new to it, and was curious as to what people use.

Re: Studio Upgrade
I thought about the dual 1 gig but with the G5s and a little cash to spend, it would seem like a step back to get a G4.

Re: Studio Upgrade
Nice. Thanks for the input. I've been very happy with MOTU stuff although it's what I started on so...Regarding the Mach 5, I have seen it in action and it seems great but I have read mixed reviews.

Re: Studio Upgrade
Okay, to be more specific regarding my upgrade. Basically, I have outgrown my G4 450, 2408, OS9, slow-ass set up. I have been unable to use Reason, OS 10, Mach 5, other soft synths, etc. to their fullest capacity. I can't really mix the way I need to with this set up, let alone take advantage of all...

Studio Upgrade
My initial topic about Apogee AD converters was the beginning of what my topic should have been. I've been working on a G4 450 for about 4 years and this has got to stop! I use it for TV/film/advertising, etc. music. I am comfortable with DP and MOTU so I'd like to stick with that. The best gear I h...

Re: Apogee
Wow. Lots of great responses. Thanks. I would like to have the 8 ins and outs so I can't really bypass the audio interface, can I? I have about $8,000 to spend on my upgrade, any other thoughts?!

Apogee
I've noticed people talking about Apogee A/D converters being used with computer recording. How are these converters different and or better than just going through a MOTU 2408 or Digi unit?

BOUNCING TO DISK DRAMA!

So, I then tried to bounce just one track to disc to see if I was trying to bounce too much ...
