Re: Tripp Lite LCR2400 Audibly LOUD

I got a good deal on a couple Cyberpower kind of like this. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1023703-REG/cyberpower_or1500lcdrt2u_smart_app_intelligent_lcd.html The better ones are the 2RU rack versions which run about $450 each but are absolute tanks. And weigh as much as tanks. This is what ...

Re: Can I use a Lynx Aurora LS-ADAT card as an LT-ADAT card?

Well I was hoping to score an Aurora 8 and an LS-ADAT or LT-ADAT card. But an Apogee AD16X popped up on Reverb so I grabbed that instead. No need for any cards since the AD16X has SMUX ADAT built in. I can put an interface card in there if I ever decide to set up a ProTools rig or something. But for...

Re: Tripp Lite LCR2400 Audibly LOUD

I'm going to disagree strenuously with the above posts. Tripplite has been making power products for decades. They are a solid, no snake oil company. I would not put them in the same category as Monster and other companies that primarily rely on marketing flim flam, not engineering. I've installed d...

Can I use a Lynx Aurora LS-ADAT card as an LT-ADAT card?

So I am trying to expand my input/output count. Looking at the trusty old Lynx Aurora. But everyone seems to sell them sans card. This and it seems like actual Lynx LT-ADAT cards are pretty rare on the ground, and discontinued for some reason? So my question is, Can I use a Lynx Aurora LS-ADAT card ...

Re: Anyone in Brooklyn wanna help me repair a Lexicon PCM80?

I've fixed cheaper reverbs, but am a little reticent about hacking at a PCM80.
What is wrong with the guitars?

Re: How important is it to mic the bottom of a snare?

I used to be super in to it for a while. Then I realized I only liked it when I was using a Beyer 201 on the bottom. That mic just has that focus like a condenser, and the hypercardiod rejection helps clean up bleed from the rest of the kit. That said. I don't even think of bottom micing the snare u...

Re: Favorite Hardware Reverb Unit

Lately I've been getting more into my Roland SRV3030. It's not the popular model, but I got a great deal on it. Honestly I liked the look of it and bought it on impulse. It's kind of ugly on a lot of the presets. And it has taken me a few months of fiddling with it to start to understand how to edit...

Re: Favorite Hardware Reverb Unit

Which models would you say are mid tier and how often do they pop up on Reverb or Ebay? TC Electronic stuff like the M1XL, M2000, M3000 I guess? But that is all quite old now. Feels strange to me to buy any new digital thing with a design over 15 years old. If I'm going on Ebay or Reverb for a, wai...

Re: Favorite Hardware Reverb Unit

Also the Eventide H9 is kicking my ass on everything lately.
It seems to be the only mid tier multieffects for sale new that isn't 20 years old?
Everything else is Bricasti Veyron or some Behringer nonsense.

Re: 16 more channels of analog compression

Big fan of the DBX sound. Suppose it is what I cut my teeth on so I just know it. The 160 and 166, skip the cheap models. I used to know the differences between the various 166 models. I think the unbalanced ones are the good ones? Or maybe that is backwards. Dammit. Presonus makes an 8 channel dyna...

Re: Cymbals Eat Snare

Some drummers just whack the cymbals too damn hard. And honestly it is hard to advise a drummer to not do this because it can end up monkeying with their timing, making them sound hesitant or wooden. What I did a lot when recording punk rock or metal drummers is just throw away the idea of overheads...

Re: Favorite Hardware Reverb Unit

Lately I am enjoying the Roland 3030. It's kind of aggravating to use, as it's "intuitive interface" is not actually very intuitive. It also loses the 100% wet setting whenever a power cycle it, which is every day. It gets too hot to leave on when not in use. I mean really really hot . But it give a...

Bitten by the X-Desk bug.

Earlier this year i picked up an X-Desk. Honestly I bought it mostly to have a no bullshit monitor section. Then I grew to embrace the workflow. Tracking through it, Routing the DAW back to the 'tape returns'. Using 500 series on the inserts. it just sounds wider and more solid than anything else I'...

Re: Any DAW that supports "grouping" regions for edits?

Logic does this more or less. Though every now and then the functionality breaks down, such as when using 'remove silence From region' it will only affect the top clip.

WTB SSL X-Panda

Been using an X-Desk for about 8 months. It really is an excellent product for what it does. Though I am growing weary of having to pile the same stems on top of each other due to only 8 'tape returns'.
So if anyone has an X-Panda gathering dust, I am willing to pay a reasonable amount!
Thanks!
