Use a Seasonic S12 300watt powersupply & a Zalman CPNS7000b AlCu CPU heatsink & Fan. This is my combo and with the included fan control on the Zalman my rig is nearly completely silent. The two fans are enough to cool the entire pc. Even in hot weather.* *(Summer in South Texas = 98 degrees+ for day...

Haven't modded mine and don't really feel the need to. I found a combination for an MS pair on acoustic guitar that to me seems fantastic. I have a Rode NT1a that I enjoyed on some acoustic bass but felt it to be a tad brittle. but when used as the MID in the MS pair along with the T-O-R. for SIDE o...

Re: My Oven a plate reverb?
Your probably right about this oven being a chamber. As I felt most of the verb "trapped inside". Now not to get unnesessarily specific. What kind of mic have your used to get that chamber sound? I would find that an LDC would be rather difficult to place in such a cramped environment. If only I had...

My Oven a plate reverb?
OK the other day I was in a better than usual mood and was singing (very out of tune) in the kitchen. And in a spot between my fridge and the oven I noticed THE koolest-est reverb I've heard. Coming out of my oven. The reverb had a beautiful tail and seemed to be kinda dark. partly cause i think the...

Why am I getting Electrocuted?
So The other day we had a BITCH'N storm. Best wind and thunder I've heard around these here parts for a while. I get out a couple of mics cause I want in on this before my power goes out. I have an AT8035B and a Sennheiser 845 that I thought would be good to help add to my "Environmental" collection...

Re: Has anybody here ever ruptured their eardrum?
Thanks for the posts, many of them alittle comforting. From what ya'll have said I think thats it is just extreme ear fatigue. May Balance is OK. I feel pressure in the ear and both of 'em are popping. But as I have really bad allergies and and extreme muscle spasms in my neck and jaw this seems mor...

Family Hoof,
This may be a little wierd but do you ever wear plugs under your headphones? I just wonder if it would be something worth practicing if I need to monitor at a loud level. Or just turn the damn things down?

Has anybody here ever ruptured their eardrum?
I ask out of curiousity and fear. Mostly fear. cause I was tracking voice talent for a show I work on and was wearing some big headphone. And I think I let the phones get too loud for too long around an hour. Cause when I took them off every thing sounded a little weird; never happened before. Also ...

Re: microphone proximity & positioning
OK this is the tread I've been looking for. See I too have similar problems. However my line of work mostly involves Voice Over for television. and thus far I have only really gained satisfactory results from close micing my talent. And I saw something the other day that sort of well, blew my mind. ...

Re: Studio Humidity
I'm glad this topic came up. As I live in South Texas a very very humid place. Now I've been here long enough that in the winter when the humidity drops to 45% My skin, lip, eyes, etc. cracks 'n shit. But aside from that its best time for me to be recording cause the lack of need for the AC to be ru...
