Make the music and if it connects, you will have a drummer.

If not, try a different drummer. It's a matter of micro-seconds if a drummer and bassist can lock a groove. If they can, you can do no wrong.
If they can't nothing will help.

Cleaning and working the send/returns is good. Try putting a short patch cable in the inserts, from send to return. Sometimes the switch in the return jack gets corroded and won't provide clean signal.

I neglected to mention the jacks but clean all of them, including the plugin for the power supply if there is one.

Over the weekend I sold several guitars.
It feels good to see the buyer's face light up when they have an instrument.
