Re: Cheapest dsl/cable?

FWIW, I had it myself and it sucked because the lines in this building are really old. Went with Comcast inste...

Re: What are tapeop engineers driving?
is it just me, or are the republicans on here the ones driving big gas guzzling machines and the 'lefties' driving smaller fuel efficient ones? coincidence? speculation? political stereotyping? john It might just be you. I'm an old punkrocker, so yeah it seems weird to go and get an Acura. But I re...

Just ditched my Ford Explorer Sport Trac 4x4 for a new Acura MDX Touring.
Mr Massive: I was considering the X5, but the price is way too much. Nice sled tho.

Re: John Peel R.I.P.
Oh that's so sad. I was just listening to Siouxsie's John Peel Session the other day. Yeah, the good ones always go way too early. But Dick Clark will live to be 100. SMH Ya that Siouxsie JPS is great. I was just listening to Sessions Of The Damned, and The Only Ones last night. This is terrible ne...

Re: Recording a Crappy Mandolin - Assistance Needed
Hi there - got a rush to do a mandolin overdub. It's an Ibanez with an old Barcus Berry p/u, the bridge type like a Hot Dot. i've dealt with this mandolin before and it sounds very tinny, decays in a huge hurry and generally sucks. I do have a good tube mic and a Distressor - any ideas for how to m...

Re: Recording Mandolin and Fiddle
Thanks for all the tips guys! I did the recording today and it went really well! I ended up using the Blue Baby Bottle on the fiddle. We had some other mics to choose from, but we all liked the BB best. For the Mandolin we used a Rode NT5 and the BB in stereo. Checked for phase and it sounded pretty...

Re: Recording Mandolin and Fiddle
See the recent "Recording Violin" thread for some details. I've had really good luck miking mandolin with a Beyer M160, Oktava MC012, Neumann, KM84, Neumann KM86, Neumann TLM193, and Telefunken U47 (from a distance--old school). A surprisingly cool mic in this regard is the AKG Solid Tube. While I'...
