Staggered Walls

I have posted this on Gearslutz just trying to get as many opinions as possible. We are framing off a garage door using the staggered stud method. People having been telling me to loosely place the insulation betwwen the studs so it doesn't cause transmittance. But we have to deal with Utah's chilly...

Computer time

I've been looking at the rain computers for awhile. They have me sold on what the computers can do and how reiliable they are the price is too steep and there is no financing. So I now turn to Dell. Does anyone use a Dell? Are there people here that are mortal enemies with Dell? I can get pretty goo...

Matt Pence

I wish someone would do an article on Matt Pence. I know he was mentioned in the American Music Club article awhile back. His work on Centro-Matics new album Fort Recovery is awesome. The sounds he gets on his drums are some of my favorites.

there are so many really great abrasive sounds on this record. And the lyrics! I thought it was going to be kind of a funny coloaboration, since they are all in super groups, but it's not at all. I don't really think about wolf parade, destroyer or frog eyes when I listen to it. I bet it spawns some...

Man that article was amazing. I remeber hearing thinking their guitar tones were amazing. I spent alot of money when I was recording my band on amps and we always wanted to record live but the bleed was too much. Pods could have solved the problem. All those whiners who use lack of good gear and mon...

I saw Retrobution Gospel Choir (one of Alan Sparhawks side projects) he was using a Traynor amp and I loved it. Definetly one of my favorite guitar tones now. Sometimes really abrasive (depends on the pedals though) distortion other times really thick and musical. I want one.

The question was crap and so is the class. We have now had two assignments where we create a story out of sound clips. The only difference between the two assignments is that on the second we have to fade it in and out. And there is no teaching involved. If someone needs an answer he wants us to use...

Mic Triggering?

So I'm reading the current issues "Letters to Tape Op" and they get on a tangent about Hi-hats and alot of people kept talking about triggering the abient mic with the snare mic or the left overhead mic. I have my Ideas but what does this mean? Using a gate maybe? how is it done? and what does it do?

Which Firewire card?

I was useing a presonus firebox on my laptop the other day and had some problems with clicking and poppong and audio dropping out. I've heard that a firewire card with a TI chipset is what I should get. Would this cure some of my problems?
