yep

I've had the misfortune of working with a guy in yes. Maybe one of these days I'll get paid...

Met 'em all including Squire. It's really inspiring to meet great players who are great people. At least Squire is batting .500

Check out 'The Syn' if you've got a chance. Good times...

Re:Songs

It's pretty much a drums and vocals mix (hopeless), you should bring up the other instrumentation quite a bit. Tune up the guitar and the harmony vox also - if you're being meticulous. The guitar on the 2nd song needs to be scooched forward a bit, it's pretty behind the beat and slows the feel of th...

instincts

if you like the original, go with it. As long as you didn't distort the vocal through the mbox. Run the performance back through that distressor, take some 1k out of the sound and boost a smidge at 12. Call it good. The 47 vocals may sound good, but if it makes the other tracks sound like crapola, w...

Studer console - $5K

The studio just bought an 80b so it's time to part with the studer... 16 in 8 out. Inserts on each channel. 2 stereo comps and 2 emt plate controls. Studio tape machine control section. I'm offering it on this forum before ebay - I like tape op. Tons of info for anyone who is really interested. It's...

mobile pt needed for nyc show

I need to rent a mobile pt mix plus or hd system for a one off live show in early september. System must include 16 i/o 16 mic pre/di iso split box I don't have the input list yet, so I'll have more info soon. It's for a non-profit, so the buget is adequate but not huge... zack@emrecording.com

Altec snare mics

For you techies out there... I just bought an altec m20 165 lipstick mic from a guy in wisconsin. These are the snare mics that the guys at electrical audio in chicago really like. Anyway, Jim has two more that have really minor fixes to the power supplies that need to be done (one supply is buzzy, ...

Re: The truth about working for a large studio... revised

You've got TONS of twin brothers and sisters. I had my head so far up my ass for that job that I totaled my car out on the way to work and ended up having the wrecking truck drop me off AT THE STUDIO with my smashed car in tow!!! You should've seen the looks on the guys faces when I pulled up in the...

Re: The truth about working for a large studio... revised

Kept working there, but it was that accident that started my push to leave the studio. I left for another assistant job at a different studio like 6 months later. Glad I did my time there tho, learned a ton from those producers.

Re: The truth about working for a large studio... revised

I moved out of assisting in '96, but I think you'll get a kick outta this one - 'scuse the typos... For a few years during the Seattle grunge boom, I worked at a studio that was getting tons of action from the likes of Don Was, Brendan O'brian, Gerry Harrison, Steve A, Don Gilmore (before he was hug...

Re: The truth about working for a large studio... revised

Listen to cookiekixx. We all know what we got into here. Remember - the studio business doesn't reward hard work. You are in a situation where you can actually pay the bills in argueably the most expensive city in the u.s. Think of what you have over what you don't. Every qualified assistant can do ...

Neumann Stereo u473 compressor fer sale

These are the mastering compressors off the old record cutting lathes(sp?). Anyway - racked with a 3a power supply by a great tech. Plug the unit in and go - works great over the bus on mid/slow tempo stuff. Real nice, smooth mids and highs. Has a bass cut switch (lets lows thru w/o triggering compr...
