Re: tommy ramone
The reason they panned the music hard left right was because they liked the way some early Beatles records sounded with the bizarre panning. I think the hearing loss was a factor on the reason Tim sounded kinda weird.

Re: tommy ramone
Ask him about recording the replacements. How is is hearing loss? How is he dealing with hearing loss? What is he up to? Does he get any mailbox money from contributions to Ramones records? How many albums of the Ramones did he produce? What kinds of drum miking tips does he offer? Did he get along ...

Fostex E-16 question
I broke out the old Fostex E-16 and was happily cutting vocals today when I could not get track 16 to arm on the machine. All other tracks can be armed with the remote. Track 16 gets signal through the board and lights up on the leds when checking levels, but it when I go into record mode, nothing i...

Re: rudest thing you've ever said to a client...?
I asked a guy if this next song was going to be Am G and C chords and over 8 minutes like all of his other tunes in front of his friend which embarrassed him badly. He nixed my suggestion that we use a click track or lay down drums first. Then he insisted on over-dubbing drums on tunes with wildly f...

Patch Bay Snake Length Question:
What is the typical length of a snake in and out of patch bays going to a mixer and recorder? I have a friend who is helping me set one up and I think he may be suggesting an excessive length (15'). I am thinking this is gonna be a lot of extra cable to run my stuff through plus a mess to keep tidy....

Re: 4-Track For Ideas???
Don't mess around, get a Tascam 234 Syncassette. I picked up one in Nashville in '89 and it's been a true friend ever since. Gives me a cool punchy sound that I like a lot. It's a rack-mount sorta high end 4 track cassette machine. Has been serviced about 4 times but the heads and all spec out to ne...

Re: Brian May Vox amp
It's a little fizzy sounding, but you can roll of the highs and it's a fun little addition to my row of dinky amps. Looks cool, could probably jam with a drummer and be heard. Have not plugged it into a 4-12 yet but will get on it.

Re: '70s Fender Bass sound - what's overdriven?
White Stripes bass is said to be guitar with a Digitech Wammy pedal. I thoguht it was bass too. There was a good article about them in Guitar Player a while back. I think the coolest bass amp would be a 60's bassman head into an old Fender bassman cab and crank it up and let the thing distort. Gosh,...

Re: ASCAP anyone?
So how much did you guys pay to become an affiliate with BMI? I am getting lined up to join one or the other, looks like BMI is the one for a small fish such as I. Just curious about the fees..

Do you have the box?
I'm thinking about adding a 2nd masterlink.
Could possibly spend $600?
e-mail me at hooversub@yahoo.com if you still have it.

Re: what do you do when your not recording bands to make mon
I teach guitar M-S. Have almost 60 students. If I was a super hero, my super power would be patience. I am Patience-Man. I can listen to "Song of Joy" day in day out. On top of that I lead a band at a church. We play the more modern rockin' soundin' Christian tunes. I like it, the songs are challeng...

Re: Presonus TubePre, anyone used it?
But they did have a good marketing plan, use the word tube and paint it blue...brilliant. But ya, I had one (ecause it was blue and has a tube) and it never really sounded like ...anything. It just was a blue piece of poo.
