The aforementioned 7000 Dying Rats also has a song called "Anal Cunt Is Gay."

Re: Who's using electronic drums??

I bought a Roland SPD-20 (the current version of the octapad) specifically for sequencer programming - I hate the pointing and clicking for drum parts. I want to bang something. It's only got a stereo out, but there are a lot of modules that let you output each individual drum. (I know the Alesis an...

Re: Metal Distortion out of a Marshall?

boss metal zone (close, but noisy and crappy at the same time) I was going to suggest that one if it wasn't already on your list. Noisy, crappy, no mids, lots of fizz? Sounds like Mesa! ;) I once let a studio owner talk me into using that pedal on a record I did with my band eleven years ago. What ...

Re: Trackball

I use one of these: http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/mouseandkeyboard/productdetails.aspx?pid=011 ...and I adore it. My hand is happy. I can use it for hours upon hours, no troubles. The scrollwheel is in the perfect spot, and the buttons are configurable to anything. Even though it's an MS product...

Re: STUPIDEST BAND NAME YOU'VE EVER HEARD?

Then there's the grunge idiom, whereby your name must consist of two seemingly disparate nouns shoved together, i.e. Mudhoney, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Temple of the Dog, and the list goes on and on. And don't even get me started on people thinking it's edgy to put the word "dog" in their names alon...

Unicornation.com?

Hey, anyone know what's up with unicornation.com, the MOTU user site? The URL has been down for awhile.

The bulletin board was a pretty good place to ask stupid geeky DP questions.

Tascam FW-1884 vs. MOTU 896HD

Hey all. I'm looking at a new firewire audio interface for Digital Performer and my Powerbook. I've kinda narrowed it down to the FW-1884 or the 896HD. I'm usually a big fan of MOTU stuff (I've been using a 2408 for awhile now) but the FW-1884 seems like a great deal. It's got the control surface th...

Re: Some good albums using Shure sm57's and 58's on vocals

According to the TapeOp interview with GGGarth, All of Zak's vocals on the first Rage Against the Machine album were tracked with a 57 in the control room.

Of course, it's not as though he's got a lot of nuances to his vocal delivery...

Re: Anyone else get a check from the CD price class action s

Got mine last Friday.

Yay.

Projekt records (if you're into the spooky goth/etherial thing) is having a $13.86 sale in honor of the rebate. I thought that was pretty funny, and smart.
