Very good points. I do not know if he has a stipulation concerning the backups. I will ask and suggest he add something to his contract in case he doesn't.

Tape Op #108 - Larry's opening question on data backups

I'm enjoying the latest, as I always do. Thanks to everyone who keeps Tape Op going. Regarding Larry Crane's opening paragraphs on the issue of client data, I'd like to perhaps offer a few insights. Long-term storage of data is a major problem and is only going to get worse as time moves on and we r...

Sold mine long ago to some local guys. I put Cinemags in them and stuffed the body full of insulation to try an minimize the awful metallic ring. Never really liked them. The cheap Royer knock-offs I bought in the TNC groupbuy a few years later, however... I still use those all the time and they are...

Zombie thread! I still have the 100-16 and after years of neglect, I am transferring some tapes for a jazz label re-issue program. These tapes are from 1977 and the transfers are going well. The Scully is running like a champ. I think I may need new bearings in my capstan motor. I ordered some today...

We had a good run. We were in the Top 10 for 8 weeks until this past week when we dropped to #11. Not too shabby! I'm very proud of this record.

Up In the Playroom is awesome. Killer bass tone +1 Also, as a big Jimmy Smith fan, I think you killed the organ tone. Not the same, but great-sounding in its own way. Thank you. Yes, it's different but I think the solidity of the bass is similar. Currently #6 on the charts after dropping to #7 last...

Thanks, fellas! The recording process was quite simple. I've been experimenting recently with only using the preamps in my Yamaha N12 mixer and Steinberg (aka Yamaha) MR816x. The only outboard preamps I used on this project were my JLM Dual 99v on the overheads. Everything else went through the Stei...

Home studio at the top of the charts

Hey folks, Some of the old-timers here might remember this thread from almost five years ago where I discussed recording my first full-length CD in my humble home studio. In the last five years, I've upgraded a few small things but I've mainly focused on my skills as an engineer including learning a...

WTB: Rolls HM58 or HM59

I've got an old Rolls headphone distribution system based around the HM60 with three HM58 satellite units. I'd like to find one more satellite, either an HM58 or preferably an HM59. If you have some sitting in your closet, let me know.

Thanks!
