FS: Apogee Mini-Me and Mbox 2

I have a Digidesign MBox 2 and Apogee Mini-Me Stereo A/D converter that I bought for a mobile recording gig which is over now, so I need to get rid of them. This is a great combo to do top notch recording at home. The built-in mic pre's are actually really good and it has several compression/limitin...

One of those federals up on ebay right now is mine. The 4G price tag really got me thinking how much I like this thing. I think it actually made me like it more which is weird. If it doesn't sell, I won't be that bummed. I did a frequency sweep on mine and it definitely seems like a full range one. ...

Valverb totally kicks ass. I wouldn't want to live without mine. I take it to other studios I work at, and have it normaled to one of my echo returns on my console. It's really great for a lot of vocals, but mostly when you want it kind of vintage sounding. I totally love it on guitars in the mix. I...

I know the guys, so maybe I can shed some light. I don't know exactly what they use on everything, but in general. Mike McCarthy is the producer/engineer that works on all the spoon stuff. He's pretty hands on with the bands, so there's a big part between the band coming up with stuff, and them fitt...

I'll have to say that external clock and converters seem really important to me in the tracking phase on a digi 002. The clock affects the quality of the converters and the clarity of the monitoring. I just did a 2" transfer for a record on HD at 88.2 and was going to do all the overdubs on a digi 0...

Re: Which kickmic and snaremic mix nicely with the Stapes?

When I'm in a pinch for time setting up drums, I'll go with two of the stapes as overheads, and a kick and snare, and you'll have pretty much everything you need. It yields a very natural drum sound, and can take eq and compresson very well to get you to other places. With the overheads being so fla...

Give him a call or an email. He's a great guy, and I get all my re-ribboning done by him. I've gotten Sank to do a few and I wasn't happy either. Enak is the man, and a true gentleman.

Old School! Glad to hear somebody still has those around. I still use them ocassionally. The ones that Joel reviewed are the tiny black ones that Harley is talking about. He's got pics on his website.

Re: Avenson Audio STO-2 Matched Mics

Thanks for the kind words, and yeah, if you want some that are for sale, you know where to find me  Just to set the record straight "I" didn't design the original stapes microphones. Both Brad and I came up with the mics, with a lot of the technical end being held up by Brad. He's fixed the mi...

Re: 414 'bubbling' - what causes this?

I used to have a 414 that had this problem, and I heard that it is somewhat common with that mic, so it's probably not something weird like being under a heat lamp. Most likely something simple like aluminum corrosion, which could indicate it was left in a moist environment, but I'm just guessing he...

Re: what broke today? 1/11/05

this shit always happens when i've got some new producer in the studio. first one's his fault. he had the headphones turned up so loud, he blew one of the drivers. it's one of those really expensive beyer dt-150 sets, and it sucks having one less pair for right now. next one isn't my fault either. n...

Re: What Did You Work On Today? 1-05-05

Lars Gorannson is the name of the guy that he's worked with in the past. Don't know if that's who he's working with now, but he's a very talented guy and fits Shane's style of music well. He's worked at my studio before and we got along great. We both have kind of nordic names, so maybe that's it. E...
