Re: Tape Op Compilation
Just another "count me in on this" message. I'm not sure if it's been noted but solid productions notes would be a bonus.

Re: the $1,299 question
As far as I know, there is no way to do this if your machine has a FW800 port on the back of the machine.chikkenguy wrote:ive got one of the newer dual boots and you have to install osx and then you can install os9 on that specific hard disk, but you can erase osx and run 9 just fine if you want...

Re: the $1,299 question
Yeah, something I could never understand either ... I bought mine RIGHT BEFORE this announcement, in the period right after the G5 announcement (when prices dropped) and right before they announced every one would be dual-boot. Sheesh. However, you can definitely use the 001 on the new/last/whatever...

Re: Apple introduces... GarageBand?!?
what? as far as collaboration and community built around such a product, Sonic Foundry, now Sony's, software Acid has had a community based around the software for collab and even hosting of songs made with Acid for years now. There are lots of groups out there that also have thousands of 'acid loo...

Re: Apple introduces... GarageBand?!?
The virtual band idea seems really cool to me. With garage band it woud be easier to not have to collaborate on everything. Imagine trading 4 track tapes like that! I wouldn't be surprised if we see some form of this within one year. Apple is far ahead of anyone else in terms of this type of collab...

Re: Apple introduces... GarageBand?!?
Sorry, didn't mean to imply there that _I_ was at the show! I read the account on the macnn.com forum's: <http://forums.macnn.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=82> Looks as though there are certainly VST/AU converters. I'm just a little too fond of one of them (Ruby Tube from SilverSpike). Can't wait ...

Re: Apple introduces... GarageBand?!?
Aparently you can export the tracks as AIFF but the app. default-saves tracks as Quicktime MP4s. This is from a firsthand account at the show.
As far as plugins are concerned, it looks as if it will only accept the semi-proprietary Audio Unit plugins, no VST etc. that I know of.

Apple introduces... GarageBand?!?
(For those that don't know, Apple just introduced GarageBand, a 64(!) track sequencing application that is a part of it's "iLife" suite. More info: http://www.apple.com/garageband/ ) ... Okay, just looking for general opinions on what everybody thinks of this. I know it's not nearly as professional ...

Re: Tascam US-428 opinions...
So far I've been extremely frustrated by mine. I did get it from a company going out of business for an extremely decent price ($200) but could not get it to work properly using Cubase 4.1. I then decided to try and see if I could use it with Pro Tools Free which so far has been fine. I'm going to t...

M-Audio Quattro question
Just curious if the Quattro is capable of recording four separate channels of input to four separate tracks via either Cubase or Logic.
Does anyone know if the QUattro will work with Pro Tools at all?
Considering buying one, but have to know whether it can do the above. Thanks in advance!

As far as I know, Epitonic does not host music.

They were recommended by another poster on the off-topic channel here. I've only heard a little about them. Anyone have any firsthand experience?

Mbox update anytime soon?
Just wondering if anyone has heard anything whispered from mouths of little birds. A friend is interested in getting one (he's currently borrowing mine). Any rumors on features, etc.? Just curious, hate to be a rumor monger, thanks in advance...! As far as I know, they are still for sale at the same...

Re: best 3" CD prices ?
Might want to give these guys a try. They had an amazing deal on 1x DVDs last time I looked and have a lot of other interesting media to peruse:
