roland space echo re-201 maximum delay length? etc....

hi, so i just picked one of these up off of ebay and am wondering if anyone can tell me what the maximum delay length should be.. i compared it to the re-150 i'm borrowing from a friend, and the delay time seemed to be a bit shorter than it (ie shorter than that of the 150), which seems odd to me, g...

Re: You know what mic is the biggest piece of shit?

That guy said something about the replacement (nt1-a) being worse.. I've heard the same thing about rode's tube mic. Their old one was way better than the new model. -- Interesting. yeah, i've got their ntv and love it on certain sources, especially since i swapped the tube w/ a telefunken. it's my ...

Re: any recommendations on a distortion/overdrive pedal?

sadly...the Shredmaster suffers from JGS..(Johnny Greenwood Syndrome)..in that anything the guy uses adds 50% to what the pedal is actualy worth. that's funny...i originally got one awhile back cause kevin shields reportedly used one alot. try as i might, i still didn't like it that much and traded ...

Re: Singer wants a harsh sound....

Darfking, those tunes are pretty cool. I think that is the vocal sound they are going for. Im looking forward to this, I think I might get to do some experimenting! Whoo hooo i've had pretty good luck with the small rectangular rca mics that go to 1/4" that pop up on ebay from time to time. they're ...

Re: The Recording Studio as Compositional Tool

electronic music, by allen strange, covers the use of studio as tool in creating electronic music and musique concrete very extensively. the book's pretty hard to find, but you can't beat it.

Re: steve reich, gyorgy ligetti, john cage

It IS a shame that he is hoarding all these master tapes of this extremely important, influential music and won't let anyone listen to them except at extraordinay expense. i dunno, after reading multiple interviews w/ lamonte and seeing him in the one of the old cage documentary's, i've begun to thi...

Re: steve reich, gyorgy ligetti, john cage

holy thread! gotta love the tape op board. i've gotta give a nod to the recently discovered lou harrison, whose work i found through my love of gamelan music. nice to see someone mention shri camel, too. that's probably my favorite riley, with dorian reeds coming in a close second. anyone here into ...

yeah, the 7110 is the aforementioned urei/jbl. very good smasher. as was also mentioned, you really can't go wrong w/ any of the older symetrix compressors, my personal fave being the cl100. the ashly cl52 also deserves some credit. another nice one that a friend of mine got me into is the built-in ...

Re: Post-Modern Audio Art & Stockhausen

i'm not familiar with that particular recording, but his book, "stockhausen on music" is a great take on composition methods and audio installation. he's one of the originators of musique concrete, and has had a pretty significant impact on pop and avant garde music in general. john cage's 'silence'...

studio upgrade suggestions? long...

hello folks, so I'm considering making some upgrades to my studio and have a budget of around $2,500 to $3,000 to spend. I primarily work on medium-profile 'indie rock' projects, and tend to go for an aesthetic that's somewhat 'mid to hi-fi,' but pretty aggressive and textured. The last thing I'm lo...
