Jeez, this is all awfully depressing. From your post it doesn't sound like you're trying to get rich or famous off this, you've just got a record of awesome songs and you want people to here them. I say go for it! The cheapest way to get cds duplicated is probably burning your own (if you don't mind...

Re: Anyone feel like a Max/MSP group buy?
I dont have that kind of money or a computer running XP however if anyone is curious, apparently Jonny Greenwood uses an aweful lot of Max/MSP.

Re: Thelonius Monk was crazy
yah but Idid see kenny G circular breathe a note for 42 minutes. impressive to say the least. No. Personaly I agree with Ron Carter and hope he chokes. Ron Carter hoped Kenny G would choke? Yeah, I saw a lecture/master class with Ron Carter at Berklee this summer. He played solo bass for about 20 m...

Re: Ariel Pink
Ariel Pink is pretty cool. I dig the far out underground pop songs and he gets some cool sounds out of very little (yeah apparently the drums are all done with his mouth) but I've got to say although the songs are cool, they seem to lack depth. Inverseroom, you're right about his recordings being to...

Re: Tascam 388 Trouble
Thank you all for your suggestions. I turned over the machine and opened it up and the capstan belt is on securely and there arent any other visible moving parts to my knowledge so I think its ok in that respect. I had checked the fuses at first but somehow overlooked that the 5th fuse is actualy bl...

Re: Tascam 388 Trouble
Yeah the tension is taut and the tape is loaded properly. What seems to happen is that it goes into play or rewind mode and all of a sudden the tape is too tight and it cuts out. The capstan still spins but the rubber wheel the hubs stop and the rubber wheel that touches the tape and capstan moves a...

Tascam 388 Trouble
My lovely old 388 isn't running. Which is so sad. I've had this great recorder for about 6 months and i have used it fairly regularly without any problems. It sounds and works great. Ive been using Quantegy 456 tape and cleaning it regularly. Everything was going great. Two weeks ago I went to turn ...

Re: Arcade Fire
Hey Howard, I absolutely love the record. Its honestly one of the best records Ive bought in the past couple months. The atmosphere and tone of the album are great and I really dig the piano sounds. Also, I'm curious about how you recorded the strings. Thanks for the bitchin', romantic album, Jared ...

Re: Looking for Clubs in Boston
thanks for the advice guys... yeah, im at the 5 week program, overall its pretty good although yesterday i saw a performance from the guy that wrote most of nora jone's songs and the songs on the new lynyrd skynyrd album. he was absolutely disgusting. he talked extensively about how he could write c...
