When I heard New Moon was coming, I was really afraid that the songs would feel unfinished/subpar or something. To say I was wrong would be a huge understatement. They're beautiful. They sound so damn good! And it's been a long time since I've been genuinely moved by liner notes. I found myself list...

I'm using a JL Cooper PPS2 to do this with Logic/DP and a Tascam 388.

Probably the same process:

Stripe the tape.
Have the box read the striping and send a midi time code signal.
Lock the software to the MTC.

I figure it out in Logic in about twenty minutes. Good luck!

Deerhoof's Milk Man (the ballet) now on DVD!

Hi. Hope this is the right forum for this, if not, please let me know. Anyway, last fall, the small public school in North Haven, Maine put on a ballet inspired and accompanied by Deerhoof's album Milk Man. We got some press on Pitchfork and other music sites, as well as a write up or two in the pap...

I use a FF800 with both a MacBook Pro and a PPC G5. Rock fuckin solid. this thing is great. I had one issue recently and I was pulling my hair and finally thought, "hey, I'll check and see if there's a driver update!" Which is the computer equivalent of a hail mary from your own 20. Anyway, sure eno...

Stupid question/threadjack:

For those that "mix to tape," are most mastering places able to deal with 1/4"? I've only mixed ITB, so I've only ever seen mixes finished on a CD (or DAT) and sent off that way.

Thanks guys!

I knew about Woodsound, but a friend of mine had a pretty bad experience there, and I'd rather try somewhere else. Thanks for all the great info.

Acoustic repair in New England?

this might not be the right place for this, but does anyone know a good acoustic guitar repair place in Maine (or near Maine? I'll drive to Mass if I have to.) My Sigma acoustic (which I love) has what I think is a loose brace in the back that squeaks and buzzes. (It almost sounds like a tiny fuzz p...

I'm getting ready to demag my 388 for the first time, and I'm a little nervous. I think I get the move-slowly-and-take-it-easy method.

But what about the other stuff in the room? I assume the demagger could really fuck up a computer, right? How close to a computer or hard drive is too close?
