Apparently guitar effects makers MI Audio (not to be confused with M-Audio) were robbed earlier this month.

Were the voice coils not blown, and you didn't want to recone, could you remove the cone entirely and use the voice coil as a sort of power soak?

The trick is to prevent damaging pops when you're going from one set of monitors to another while listening. If you're worried about overpowering the amp with too large a signal from the synth, perhaps you could use one of those "reamp" boxes?
