Reliable Tour Van

I'm back on the hunt for a tour van. I had a '90 Dodge Ram van, extended. She drove us cross country 3 times, and only need minor reapirs (belts, hoses, and 2 waterpumps). I miss my van...Anyway, you guys got suggestions on a sturdy, reliable tour van? We are a 3 peice, so a minivan will also do fin...

Re: best way to really learn compression

I was doing voiceover work for a friend of mine, and it was just talking for 10 minutes. I sat down with the comp on, and for the first time I was able to actually hear the attack anbd release, exactly where it was and how it was working. It helped me a WHOLE lot!

Re: Cool Edit Mixdowns...somthing missing

When I hard limit the mixdown, it isn't much, but I am bumping up the sound a bit. And as far as tracking goes, When I mix off the adats into the mixer, bypassing the computer, I like the sound overall. I mainly use CEP just to edit, EQ, and compress. I decided it would be best to mixdown and burn t...

Re: Tom Lehrer mic placement

WOW! Nice to see some other Tom Lehrer fans! My Grandpa made me a copy of a Tom Lehrer record when he got a "cassette machine" and wanted to play. Being a boy scout, this was always my fav: "If you're looking for adventure of a new a different kind, and you come across a girl scout who is similarly ...

Re: Looking to get into simple 4-track recording

This isnt realy what you asked for, but I started out on an Akai Dr4. Its a simple 4 track digital recorder, with a ton of edit features. It has 4 analog ins and outs, and spidf out, which (with the proper hardware) you can send it to the computer. I've seen some cheap-o sound cards with spidf ins o...

Re: oh shit! i bought an adat! Now what?

I dump my 20 bit adat data into Win98 via a Lexicon Core 2 (in 98 only). It has adat litepipe in and out, and a breakout box with 4 analog ins and 8 analog outs. I used take the litepipe in to the computer, then send it out via the 8 analog outs into my mixer. On a side note, the 4 analog ins on the...

writing to multiple cd-r drives...ever do it?

Nero has a function that says "burn to multiple drives." I have 3 cd-r drives laying around here. (2) 2x and (1) 4x along with my (in use) 8x burner. Has anyone tried to do this and have any luck? The way I see it, I could make demo CD's much faster. Ever burn (50) 20 minute demos at 8x on a deadlin...

Re: Cool Edit Mixdowns...somthing missing

How about this idea: Output of my computer to a nice preamp, then into my cd burning deck? Or what about those bbe sonic maximizers (i've never used one before, not even sure what it does)? Would it be a better idea to dump to a 1/4" 2 track reel, then to the cd burner? If so, and reel suggestions?

Re: Drummers: developing ambidexterity

I drive stick, but I still drum in my car with my left foot. I have gotten pretty good at shifting gears with the beat too. Most of the time I am in fifth gear anyways so my left foot is free to play kick. yeah I do a lot of highway driving. The carpet in the car has worn through where my left foot...

Re: Favorite Punk Rock Harmonies

My fav is the vocals in NOFX's "ribbed" which by the way is my favorite NOFX album. I was told that Bad religion did all the backup/harmonies for that album, because back then noone but Fat Mike could sing. Fact or fiction? anyone know? My band works like mad on vocal harmonies. I should know, I hav...

Re: Triggered Drums & Drum Hit Replacement

I'd like to get into this. It seems like a great way to solve the biggest snare problem of all: a drummer walks into a session with this rusty tin can of a snare, with heads from 1989. With this device I could replace the snare sound to tape (right?) and never have to listen to "uuh can you add more...

Re: Drummers: developing ambidexterity

Wing: Do you drive a stick or automatic? When I drum along to songs in the car, my right foot is usually on the gas or break, so just out of habbit I would play along to the kick with my left foot. I never thought about it until one time I tried to play lefty. The hat/snare switch was tought to get ...

Re: party songs: suggestions!

J. Geils Band: "Bloodshot"
And I'm not suggesting that because track one is called "It aint nothin but a house party", although that is a rockin party song. And its always cool at a party to break out clear red vinyl!
