NYC PEOPLE! Leftovers from studio liquidation

Hey everyone. I'm out of my place on the 31st and I sold everything I didn't need. Here is what's left. http://newyork.craigslist.org/brk/msg/553084545.html Everything is priced down. Make me and offer... I'm broke! Please e-mail me any questions. I wont be checking my tomb private messages. Thanks,...

cassette w/ balanced line-in's

I was wondering if anyone knew of a small, 2 or 4 track cassette recorder that has balanced line in's (pref 2). Does such a thing exist, or should I keep dreaming?

Help me identify this sweet Premap?

This little gem was given to me a few years ago. The only thing I know about it is it's the best sounding preamp i've ever heard. If anyone has any info (like what it's worth) on this unit, i'd love to know. I can't find any info about it online, except for the opamp details on Jensen's website. Tha...

Each channel strip has 10 pins that had the "rail" connected to them. Pins 7, 8, and 9 were connected to the power supply at +24 +15 -15 in that order. The +24 was connected to the phantom on/off switch.
Where should I put the ground that was on the headphone jack? What should be my new common point?

Its made by Tangent. Its a huge live sound board. Since posting, I took out a strip and noted what I believed to be the important stuff: Which pins are the inputs and the send, and which pins are the power (I pulled the power supply also). With my schematic and parts I'm going to solder it together,...

Channel Strips

I just got a huge mixer with modular channel strips for free. I wanted to see if anyone had any good links where I could get more info on making them into standalone preamps. I'm pretty handy with electrical stuff but I rather read up first before I smoke some of these strips. Plus I've never done t...

Looking for NY studio w/ 1" 16 track (MS-16)

We're looking for a studio in the NY area that has a Tascam MS-16 1" machine. We just got done tracking 3 songs in MN and we ran out of our "free" time, and we have to go back to NY. We just need somone to get the reel on, compress, EQ, and mix. We're not looking for anything fancy, we're a three pi...

adding a pad to my ghetto box

I have this sweet 70's marantz tape recorder and it has a built in condenser mic on it. Its the box we use at the end of practice to benchmark our work for the night. When we throw a shirt over it, it sounds GREAT(for a practice recording) and we love it, gets a nice clear mix of drums, amps and voc...

Re: overheads....sm57's!!!

I honestly think you could probably get away with using a 57 on every single source on an entire record and make a kickass sounding record! That's what I do, and i love it! 57 on everything (including vocals) and a superlux kick mic, which sounds better than a d112 in my head. I haven't looked at m...

Re: which audio cards have ADAT lightpipe?

I live off my Lexicon Core2. I got it on e-bay for < $100 and it was worth every penny. The only issue is, it dosent work with any OS greater than win98 (which I dont mind at all.)

Re: Tascam M-512 - What is broken?

I have a similar problem: I have a tascam m-1516 that I got for $50 because the Stereo Out, Monitor Out External Input and Dual Out (mix/2) don't work at all. All these are in the upper right hand side of the mixer so I figured something blew. It a pain, but I mix and monitor through headphones, so ...

Re: Jingles that haunt you....

I spent the day hung over at work today with about 2 hours of sleep. If given the chance to kill myself I would have taken it, just to get the new virgin mobile jingle out of my head: Its ok if you're a Christian, a Muslim or a Jew/its ok if you're agnostic and you don't know what to do... coupled w...

Re: Cool edit tracking problem

eeeep.... the Core2... that is a pretty shaky interface Wing: I use a core 2 and Adats...I'm the KING of the shaky interface! I'm running a Pentium 1ghz with 128mb RDram. This is a dedicated music box, and disabling extra processes didn't help. I was on a deadline so I dithered down to 44.1 and the...
