insane how hard it is to get the simplest, most primative instrument to sound real. being a solo recordist i have best results in a dead room or burried under a baffle. make multiple passes with different mics (small condensers work for me) and i mute the previous pass(es) so i can get as natural of...

toaster...et al... funny you say this about the sound... my friend, a non soundnerd, layperson, went over to that stage and said she had to leave because is sounded '...very off...' as she put it during tv/radio and death cab but just chalked it up to not knowing the music. yet, she didn't know much...

I have to say it's pretty neck and neck for me...little chunks of each here and there. My question: how much of a song has to be completed/formed before you demo it? i'm a completist and it drives me crazy. I probably have 6-9 60% completed songs but i just can't get them down on tape. drives me up ...

I first have to state that the conference as a whole was an 11 on the inspiration meter--from stapled kinkos copies to a 500 person conference is just amazing to see. Friday night's remarks hit home...And Sam and Janet (quasi)at the Home Recording panal on sunday just made me feel like I was on musc...
