Re: Digidesign admitted second gen.G5 ProTools Freeze Up Pro

I've had a similar problem, however the kernel meltdown never happens while running a session or anything, luckily. My problem is when I'm running audio from any other program through the pro tools hardware... i.e. listening to itunes through my mbox out my monitors. I always attributed it to digide...

Re: Another Ebay feedback conundrum.

yeah that seller not only broke international laws....he sold you CDRs dude!

you should get right up PISSED at him, demanding satisfaction.

You found out a lot of things about the item NOT listed in the auction as well, which is a no-no on ebay.

Re: Has anyone out there actually built a reverb chamber?

i had malcolm as a teacher at columbia college. i wonder if he ever got a chance to experience the new reverb chamber at columbia. the audio department moved into a new building last year and aquired an old bank vault that they made into a reverb chamber.... not only does it LOOK badass, it IS badass.

i agree. The venues in chicago are hit and miss though. Depends on who's doing the show.

i hate the aragon ballroom with a passion. come to think of it, i don't like big rooms. long live bar shows.

Re: oh shit! i bought an adat! Now what?

Hate to ask such a basic question, but I'm curious: when you take an ADAT recorder to a gig and you're recording, say, a drum kit and bass guit, do you need 8 preamps or what? Thanks.
Yes. I usually just use my 16 channel mackie board.

Re: digi's deal on Plug-ins

cool, thanks. i looked up the cosmonaut one and its a voice modeler of some kind. It does different radio transmission sounding voices, which is good for me because I do film work. It's not always easy to EQ a voice to sound like its coming through a CB radio or something. i think i'll have to pick ...

Re: Should I Get Pro Tools or Vegas?

like it or not, protools is something of a standard. that won't last forever. especially with all these great programs out there. Pro tools is just the most widely available. i have PT 6.2.2 through an Mbox on a G5. I got it because Digidesign was pretty quick to optimize it for dual processing. so...

On my PC, i have a sony dru-500, which is getting old really fast, but it is still one of the better out there. I've never had ONE problem with it, and have had complete reliability so far. Sony has updated this model a bit, so just check out the sony's i guess. they work for me.
