Re: great use of over-compression? - Trail of Dead

My fav rock show ever was Trail Of Dead at the Young Ave. Deli in memphis on their last US tour. Mike McCarthy was there and he was throwing orange traffic cones at the band while they played. They stopped and dumped beer on him and half the crowd. Instruments were trashed, Jason Reece cannonballed ...

It is amazing how much of a difference it makes when you have an engineer that understands your music and what you are trying to do. Also I never forget that they are my employee too for as long as I'm in there. Ever heard that part of The Cramps "songs the lord taught us" where he checks someone fo...

Re: unwound 'leaves...' -- hmMMMm

Awesome record but I find myself wishing that the drums were louder in the mix every time I listen to it. The guitars seem to bury the drums in certain sections. Anyone have any info on the vocal processing or how they got the drum sounds? Did they do all of the tracking at their pracice space?

the darkness= Tiny Tim(the early days) fronting Angel (look them up in the bad stage outfits hall of fame)with extra estrogen added. Evanescence= Tori Amos fronting Linkin Park (if you think about it there's not a damn thing funny about that. It's just painful) I'd rather eat the dried vomit from Jo...

Re: Oktava MK-319 mic review

Isn't it funny that the people that get all pissed off when there is a negative opinion offered on some gear invariably own that product? Sometimes I think people feel positively about something just because they own it. I hear people raving about these mics but they are usually the same people who ...
